Over 18 months ago, the only SportShift V12VS Spitfire edition (2016) went on sale at AM Works. I saw it slide very slowly from the original £225k asking price to £149k before it vanished at the start of the lockdown.

Just curious - does anyone know if it sold or pulled off the market?

Not sure if its the same car or not (I do recall there being more than one for sale at one point), but there is one for sale at AM Cambridge for £180k at the moment...

EDIT - just realised you said sportshift! smile The AM Cambridge car is manual....getmecoat

It will be interesting to see what sort of premium develops over the next few years for the manual V12s compared with the paddle shift.

It was at that price for a while.

I continuously wandered what it was worth. Lovely “Spitfire” spec, naturally, and had power kit added to bring it to 595bhp.

But no lightweight seats (did any have this?) nor B&O. Also pre-Apple CarPlay. Around 6k miles from memory. Had been stood around for 18 months.

I was always watching it like some obsession. But I always came to the same Q... is it really worth about double a similar spec 2016 V12VS SS.

Sadly priorities have now changed and I’m sticking to the V8. At least it solves that dilemma whistle

Simon Lane would be the authority on these re specs etc as he commissioned the Spitfire run when he was the DP at AM Cambridge. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been seen on here for a while, which is a crying shame, considering his current role in the business. Fwiw, none of the cars I remember seeing for sale had lightweight seats, just the normal sports ones, and I don’t recall seeing any with B&O either (although happy to be corrected on both by anyone who knows for sure!).

I would guess Simon hasn’t been on here because he would have been furloughed and would probably feel that he shouldn’t be commenting.

I loved the Spitfire edition but have not seen any of them with lightweights. I am surprised the owners didn’t push for this as it suits the car and I would have thought it would have been fitting for a spitfire cabin wink

Probably very sensible, for employees not to be involved with 'work associated' social media.
I don't know, but it might even be something which is included in employment contracts these days.
We do have at least one AML employee who contributes here occasionally, but in a very helpful and discrete manner.

I presume Simon might have been instrumental in the DBSS Concorde Edition, for sale through AM Bristol.

Slight thread creep, but yes you’re right, he was instrumental, and that may have been the last time we saw him on here.

He was responsible for all of the AM aviation inspired cars, all now grouped together under AM Wings.

There are some very lucky owners out there, and the Duxford Green paint on the Spitfire version is just sublime.

Best Regards

Indeed, Minglar. I did try to PM him end of last year to confirm that the Works one was the only SportShift Spitfire edition made and asked one other Q. Sadly never heard back.

He works for AM now, and I believe they have a policy of not letting employees post on uncontrolled social media such as this place.

Thanks Adam!

I won't pester Simon now. I was genuinely very close at the end of last year, but with all that's going on, my attention has to be elsewhere at the moment.

I was just curious what happened to that car and whether it got sold. I didn't want to phone Works either as I'm no longer in the market. Just nosey wink
