I viewed a 2010 4.7 Vantage this morning. The car seems a very good one, great spec, condition & history but it’s missing the plastic ‘secondary’ key fob you put in dashboard.

Crystal “ECU” key present.
Emergency key present.
Plastic “ECU” key missing

Lots of searching on here and on internet but I’m still not sure what the options are for replacement without getting ass raped by a main dealer who according to the internet will only sell you the crystal key!?

Seems I can buy a plastic one “with codes” could I take this to an Aston dealer and get it coded?

Help please - this issue is causing me concern and I could miss a lovely car..
Thanks.

Is the car for sale at a dealer? If so put a small deposit on it based on an agreed figure for replacement key. I’m sure AM will be able to remove all missing keys very easily.

Good luck.

Car is very well priced and at a specialist (not AM approved).

I have tried to call a few main dealer parts dept. for quote and advice/options but all closed.

I’d like to put a deposit on car but difficult to negotiate a deal when cost of replacement key is significant but unknown

I bought one of these last week https://www.astonmartinbits.com/models/3-DBS/parts... Bamford Rose or a MD dealer will program it for you

Thanks but that just looks like an empty case - nothing inside to program?

As you have found that a replacement key costs £400 plus coding, that offers a basis for a negotiated purchase price.

Many owners do not use the glass key at all, because of ease of dropping it and the very high cost of replacement.
Therefore they would not be able to drive this particular car as presented for sale.

The earliest 4.7 cars were delivered with two plastic keys, because the glass keys were not available, but were issued to owners later.

It had all the internals, I swapped them with mine

My understanding Kevin, is that swanny would not have a spare set of internals to use for an empty case.
The vehicle does not seem to have a valet key.

This, the plastic valet key has been lost.

Yes, I'm with that but the key I bought from Astonbits is complete so programable, I just swapped the internals from my worn key so I didn't need to have it programmed

I had miss placed mine, so was looking at replacements. The Aston Martin bits keys when I was looking were not programmable, just basically a replacement case that you have to swap internals.

Main dealer wanted £591.42 for a plastic key, Jokers. Luckily I found it later that week. Lol.
