My Aston Martin db9 is making a loud ticking noise and vibrates. Any idea what this could be. I replaced the manifold last week and it drove fine. Then today it all of a sudden did this and felt like it was gonna shut off.
Inlet manifold? Exhaust manifold? Why did you remove the manifold and what else did you do whilst doing so?
I would suggest not using it seeking an expert's opinion because as you've asked on here it's reasonable you assume that you're not 100% confident stripping the V12?
It's nigh-on impossible to offer accurate advice based on descriptions such as ticking, vibrating etc as it could be any number of things. If it was exhaust manifold you removed, ticking could just be a leaking gasket BUT that wouldn't cause it to vibrate, although it might sound/feel like it if bolts were not torqued-up. Misfiring, however, would cause it to vibrate. The timing of the ticking/vibration and the recent work could be a coincidence but broken valve springs can cause misfires, as can pre-cats breaking up and any number of electrical issues. Engine mounts can cause vibration but that wouldn't normally feel like it would shut-down. Any warning lights?
