DBX Media Launch and First Deliveries
Discussion
Hi everyone,
Interested to know if anyone has any insight into how the DBX production is going? I know Aston have come out and said production is going well and first deliveries will start this month. But does anyone have a date of when the first delivery will be?
I'm also interested as to when the media will start getting test drives and be able to review the car.
I'm wondering if they will try and coincide it with their Q2 results on the 29th July to soften the blow?
Thanks.

When I was at my local dealer a few weeks ago they told me their demo car had been delayed due to component shortages from abroad. So I doubt they will be delivering customer cars imminently.
Separately I have heard that the new boss stopped the line at St Athan when he saw what was going on there, but that was hearsay.

Interesting, thanks for the info. Separately I have heard that the new boss stopped the line at St Athan when he saw what was going on there, but that was hearsay.
That's far from ideal from Aston's perspective. Hopefully they are able to get things back on track ASAP as they desperately need to get the DBX out there and selling.
Spoke to my dealer last week about when they might get a car - original plan had been to be taken on a test drive at Silverstone in May and then drive their demonstrator end of June/ early July, obviously neither happened. They said no definite plans yet but they thought given Aston’s need for cash they were likely to start shipping named customer orders before press cars or dealer demonstrators - ie the opposite order to usual.

Hmm interesting, that's good to know, thanks. It makes sense I guess that they need to get cars out to customers ASAP.
This video shows the DBX production line and would be appear to show cars that are in final assembly. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtjItVKv1W0)
The impression I get is that there doesn't seem to be much of a plan for the launch. It's very much, get cars built as quickly as possible and out to customers. Understandable I guess because of COVID, but I hope it doesn't impact the effectiveness of the launch.
Aston Martin are of course hoping China will be a very big market for the DBX
Here is a very detailed video. They are getting excited arleady.

Sorry it is not in English, but you will follow what is going on, and should enjoy having a close look at the DBX.
A good job avinalarf is now a rare visitor here. He might not be fully concentrating on the car!

Depending who you talk to, demonstrators (1 static and 1 demo is the norm) will start appearing at UK dealers in August. It's worth remembering that the UK wasn't the primary market for the car (in the first 12 months of production at least), as when UK Aston owners were asked if they wanted an SUV, the response wasn't as positive as it was in overseas markets. Therefore, customer cars for those markets will be getting priority.
I'd perhaps wait a month or two, and there'll be some activity, and perhaps one available to test drive.

First production car left the line this morning (Thursday). Customer deliveries start later this month.

Maybe it'll be like the one-77 where they really didn't give the press access to them.
Well I certainly hope they do! I would have thought they'd want to go to town with the PR given the importance of the car to the brands survival!Of course different circumstances with the One-77, because they already had orders for every car which they were going to build.
I was mostly joking with the one-77 but not letting every reviewer and youtuber out there get DBX press access given how important the model is does make you wonder if they are questioning just how positive the reviews might or might now be. Hence they want to fill up order books before the reviews hit.
And ya... i think with one-77 they knew the reviews might be questioning the value and transmission etc. Only a few reviews of the one -77 still!
