Out of curiosity, how does one adjust the toe in using the tie rod ? It has a bellows arrangement at the steering rack end end, which seems to be fixed to the tie rod with a small clip and to the steering rack at the other end with a large clip. Normally you would rotate the tie rod whilst keeping the tie rod end static and this would pull in or push out the wheel, however, to my mind this would just twist the bellows ?

Does the tie rod rotate within the bellows ?

Also, can the tie rods be removed ? I'm thinking of getting them properly blasted and painted rather than just painted, as they're letting the side down a bit.

No idea but I assume I've looked at the parts diagram ?

There's normally a flat area on the tie rod to put a spanner on and adjust the toe. You may need to remove the outer clip from the steering rack gaitor (bellows) to stop it from twisting.

Yep - the Scuderia parts diagrams and I are old friends. The flat areas are there, however, it was the clip on the bellows that was confusing me. If it is supposed to rotate within the bellows that's fine.

If you look here you can see the inner end of the tie rod is threaded.

So you'll need to remove the bellows (of course) but how you remove the tie rod is another matter. You may need to remove the steering rack, or just put the steering on full lock for better access.

The tie rod rotates within the bellows.

Smashing - many thanks smile

Edit - had a bit of a play with them today and yes, they seem to spin very easily in the bellows. I’d have thought that the clip would have compressed the bellows plastic on to the tie rod, but it doesn’t.
