New 2006 Aston V8V owner.
Discussion
Hi all. Ive been lusting after an Aston V8 Vantage for many years and I’ve finally found enough spare cash and prices have fallen to where I can take the plunge. Plus I’ve learned plenty from this forums past threads.
I have been shopping at very much the bottom end of the market and as such have had to compromise somewhere between condition, mileage, history and spec.
My car is a 2006 (55) in Midnight blue. It just turned 35k miles and I love it to bits. After my previous car (E92 M3) it feels a bit agricultural but very very special. Makes me smile like an idiot.
My car has had the later S wheels and side skirts fitted along with clear rear lights. It’s got great history from Aston and McGurks yet I’ve still managed to find a few issues which I’m sorting. I’ve replaced a rear shock (was dry and clean but definitely not doing its job!) ,front brake pads and it’s getting new front tyres this week due to cracking between the treads which I didn’t notice until the wheels were off. It’s still on original clutch but it feels fine to me and replacement has been budgeted for on assumption it’s way past it’s best.
Looking forward to getting some miles on it through Europe before the summer is out... Covid permitting
Thanks for looking!

You have great taste sir - but I would say that.
My 06 V8V, also in Midnight Blue but with only 7,000 miles.

Wow! 7000 miles! I love how it looks almost Cadbury purple in the sun. I can imagine how perfect your paintwork must be. Very jealous. Mine has unfortunately suffered (as all the cars I viewed in price bracket) the typical stone chipping to the front bumper and front of the rear arches. I would love to have it corrected but as my body shop guy has explained, due to the panel shapes it will require nearly a full lower repaint to get it right....... maybe one day. My 06 V8V, also in Midnight Blue but with only 7,000 miles.

You need to start driving it!
I bought it in January at 6,500 miles. We would have taken it over to France for the Le Mans Classic but sadly we know what happened to that. My 06 V8V, also in Midnight Blue but with only 7,000 miles.

I plan to do around 2,500 miles a year going to events and on tours, but even then it will still have only 30,000 miles at 25 years old!

Nice, congrats! I am a fan of dark blue cars, clear lights and side skirts on the Vantage, so what's not to like! I have been shopping at very much the bottom end of the market and as such have had to compromise somewhere between condition, mileage, history and spec.

Very first cheap thing to do, I suggest you to switch for a shorter antenna (Redpants on YouTube has a video on it). Small investment, super easy and a noticeable upgrade.

I hand actually replaced the original as it had been permanently bent from the car being under cover but like a brainless tool I ordered the same as original. I think it was about £3 so will order a slightly better one in time.

Hi Paul, I’m in Attleborough
Ah just up the road! I’m in Thorpe St Andrew. Are there many others locally. I did spot a light green vantage round my way earlier this year but not seen it lately.
Wheels are in for refurb this week, they weren’t too bad but while the front tyres are off it made sense. Good excuse to do some underside cleaning.

Lovely hideout! I wish I could have this kind of space to keep mine, sadly it's a multi store garage, living in the city.Wheels are in for refurb this week, they weren’t too bad but while the front tyres are off it made sense. Good excuse to do some underside cleaning.

Saw your car yesterday Paul but missed you... car looks lovely!
Thanks! I did hang around the other V8V’s a bit in the hope of catching you but my excitable 9 year old son was off like a shot to check out the other cars!Which one was yours? I did put up a photo of each in a thread yesterday titled Coffees and Classics.
