Leaving the fold (for now!)
Discussion
Hi all
Having had five fantastic years with my DB9 I have decided to move on.
The main reason is since i bought my Ferrari earlier this year I am just not driving the Aston anymore.
It has gone to a good home with another PHer mate who will actually enjoy driving it rather than me just look at it!
So I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone here who was so helpful when I was going through the purchase stage and particularly those I have gone on to become mates with (Nick, that Champagne you brought round is still in the fridge for our next lunch with Jockman and Paddy!).
Cheers!

Nice, congrats on everything! Which Ferrari is it?
Cheers!
I looked at several and was initially interested in a 328 GTS (I like the older styling) but ended up going with a 360 Spider F1, which I consider to be a more modern future classic.
I'm the same way with Astons and when I return to the fold it will either be the old Vanquish S, a DBS, or at a push the newer Vanquish S.
The DB11 just doesn't do it for me!
I also have first call on my DB9 if the new owner ever decides to sell and knowing how well I have looked after it and how well he will that may be a possibilty!
Here is a pic of the Ferrari:

Wow! Never thought I would see this day. But well done on the Ferrari and finding your DB9 a good home. They are great cars. I am selling one but would happily keep it if I did not also have the choice of Vanquish and Maserati.
Same here and I came very close to changing my mind! The Ferrari is lovely, but don't not have the elegance of an Aston. It was an itch that needed scratching though!
It took me many months after buying it to decide to let the Aston go, but I never drove it since the Ferrari arrived and realised it was just being wasted.
If it wasn't for the fact that a mate of mine from here was looking for one I would still have it!
I used to have a GranTurismo and that was lovely!
I'll be back, and probably with the DBS I was initially going for.
Cheers

Well, since Julian has played his hand, I'll do likewise. As hinted on another thread, I am the lucky new owner of a certain Titanium/Black DB9!
I'm (obviously) very pleased with it indeed. I first drove one about 10 years ago, and loved it, but put the idea of ownership aside at that time. However several things aligned recently meaning it was back on the cards. Julian knew about this and suggested I borrow the Aston on a sale or return basis ("return" was never really going to happen!). He also agreed to have it serviced and get a few minor issues sorted before we did the deal - thanks mate!
I don't envisage it being parked anywhere near a certain well-known swimming pool any time soon, other than for the delayed pool party
but Julian certainly has first call on it at some point in the future. Until then I shall aim to keep it fully fettled, and I'm sure I'll be back here to ask multiple daft questions in the meantime.
Oh and Gretchen, if you're reading this, that really was a very sharp observation several weeks ago!

I had to get it off my chest!

You have the advantage of buying a car you can sell in a day, as I would always have it back.
There just seemed no point in letting it fester, just because I enjoyed looking at it!
If Gretchen is on this thread she will be telling you that I am an idiot for letting the Aston go and getting a Ferrari. Or most likely saying that your V12 throbs harder than my V8!
Take care of it mate (I know you will) and say hi to the ridiculously lovely Mrs CAPP0 from me.

I’ve got to say that I love Julian’s new toy. Such a lovely car. It even looks good with the roof up.

I hope everything has cleared up 'down there' for you. That must have been a tough time!

On a more serious note I want to thank you very much for all of the work you have done on the Aston and my other cars.
Putting aside the ribbing's handed out here, it is sometimes important to recognise people and their talent.
You are basically a magician. You turn up, work all hours under the sun and moon (when we are not just chatting!) and every single time leave me with a car that looks better then when it left the factory!
The simple fact of the matter is that whenever I buy a new car, you are the first person I call!!
You are an absolute Gaylord though!
