I have been keeping an eye on adverts and have seen some 4.3 V8 Vantages touching the £25,000 mark. Do you think it is possible to find a well cared example for around this sort of price? I do not mind higher mileage cars and understand that there will some wear but the ones I have seen look pretty ropey.

Thanks.

If you have found below perfect condition at 25, then perhaps the owner of a pampered car will be looking for 30.
There will be pristine examples around, and I would certainly wait for one. Easy to find yourself spending 5k, bringing an under par car back to a good standard.

I would guess mine would be worth around £20k. 75k ish miles, small paint blister on the rear boot lid and a few road rash paint chips here and there. Mechanically solid, with new discs and pads all round, new radiator last year, had a clutch done a while back and drives faultlessly, but the fact that the paint isn't showroom will no doubt mean I am in the cheap seats. The non-low mileage cars that aren't 100% A1 seem to have fallen to that £20k sort of range hence my valuation.

At £25k I should think you could find a pretty perfect example if you aren't worried by miles on it.

Thanks for your replies. I will keep waiting and hopefully the right one to come up.

Shnozz, one like yours at around £20k would be absolutely perfect. Although, looking at the moment, I think it would be worth more.

You have both give me hope that I'll be able to find a good example at £25k. I cant believe the amount of car you can get for that money and one that I have been dreaming about for years is actually attainable.

Condition is so important with these cars.

Some of the 4.3s will of course now be 15 years old. I am sure you will know, that spares prices are high.
Fortunately, I have not had to replace any headlights (price - don't ask), but have needed a clutch (in the thousands - rear mounted gearbox makes it a big job).

Good luck with your search.

Mine is 9/10 condition with FSH, 40k miles, manual and a few carbon upgrades / V8S wheels.

I was getting offers of £25k p/x from main dealers which for me was too low, I’d think a private sale would be £28k+.

I am stuck out of the country for the foreseeable future and nearly did a deal on it last month which would have been the equivalent of £20k (it was a P/X for a LHD car that I could have used + some cash - but £20k combined value). If I could have returned to the UK to actually get the deal over the line I probably would, although of I could see north of £22k I would be minded to close on it.

I never thought I would hear myself say that. Many times on here and in person I said at that sort of money its the bargain of the century for a prestigious, V8 manual car that is the most striking design of the last 30 years IMO. What can I buy with £20k - £25k that is even remotely close! If it were not for personal circumstances I wouldn't even consider letting one go at that money. It's also nice in some ways it isn't an appreciating "asset" that one is scared to drive and put miles on. Didn't think twice about a Le Mans jaunt or the 700 mile round trips I do to see family across the UK.

Thanks Jon39, I have been doing a lot of research into parts, and like you say, some of them are eye watering. I am looking around the £25k mark to keep a contingency if things go wrong. From what I have read, it seems like the engines and gearbox are quite solid. I am looking for ones that have had the clutch done, in the hope that I will not have to get it done for a while. I will let you know if I manage to succeed in my search. Do you have any pictures if yours?

Lord.Vader, do you have any pictures? I'd love to see it - it sounds great! I think the s wheels really make the car look fresh.

Shnozz, if that deal had gone through, I think that buyer would have been very lucky! At £22k, one like yours sounds absolutely amazing. Like you say, having the higher mileage stops you from worrying about driving it. I have also heard that regularly used ones can be more reliable as well. Would you mind bearing me in mind if you are up for selling it? Would you mind if I pm'd my email to you? Also do you have any pictures?

If anyone else is reading, please feel free to put up pictures. I seem to have exhausted google, youtube and the post a picture section! Haha. I just cant get enough of seeing these amazing cars!

Thanks Damit, I have just had a look. It certainly looks very nice and clean and would definitely fit the bill. It appears to be on it's original clutch so I will bear that in mind. From researching it seems that clutches tend to last on average around 45k, so I would factor in the potential for a big bill on the horizon. Although the owner says that the clutch does not show significant wear, so possibly not. I can see the price creeping up due to the low mileage - I will be watching closely.

Yeah they are two of the updates parts.

It’s only 10 minutes from my house so i do it quite regularly.

Great cars, still enjoy mine every drive, even after 4 years.

As the cars are getting a bit older you need to consider the overall history when buying I think. Also are there any upgrades that have been added over time. The cost of these can be enormous but they won't be fully reflected in the sale price.

18 months ago I paid £34k for a 2007 (2006MY) V8V. This was right at the top of the price range at the time but it had a perfect service history with a main dealer and over £20k worth of Aston dealer upgrades including to 400hp engine upgrade, sports suspension, forged alloys, sport back box, carbon front and rear diffuses, clear rear lights. All fitted by the same main dealer. Mileage was 19k.

To some it will be seen as too expensive for the age, but to me is was worth it due to history, mileage and upgrades.I also loved the interior colour (black cherry). I also had to have a manual, not interested in Sportshift cars personally. Couple of small niggles in my ownership but no proper big bills. No idea what it's worth now but surely should be at least £30k? Doesn't matter yet though as not planning on selling it!
