Hi,
Can”t find a relevant post, but I’ve just bought a 57 plate DB9 and the sat nav screen reads “cannot read disc” when I put the sat nav disc in...I tried a random dvd with the same result....ideas on what to do would be well received.....

Before you buy a new Nav dvd, find someone with the same year car and dvd and put their dvd in yours.

If it still fails the problem is bigger than a dvd

Have had that happen a few times, clean disc and try again. Always sorts it in the end, Neil

Had that happen on mine when trying to update the sat nav. I read all kinds of horror stories regarding the cost of replacing the unit, but a DVD/CD cleaner disc sorted mine quite easily. The lens gets dirt or dust on it over the years.

Sounds like the laser and drive unit has packed up. Can you hear it repeatedly trying to locate the disc at all? I had the same problem in Mrs Minglars Lexus RX300 a couple of years ago. It’s old tech and they usually pack up eventually. CD players can do the same. Lexus quoted.......I hope you’re sitting down......£6000 for a replacement unit. I told them to poke it and sourced a used one from a breakers yard for £200. After an hour of removing and refitting a lot of trim in the boot, I managed to fit it myself, and it’s still going strong. If that turns out to be your problem I wouldn’t go anywhere near a AM dealer. I guess there’s just no supply of new units like these anymore.

Good luck. Hope you reach a good outcome.

Best Regards

Minglar
