Anyone know NSO 18?
Discussion
Hi everyone
Does anyone know DB9 Volante reg number NSO 18? Its for sale on AT, a work colleague has seen it - but the price is 45,000 whereas vcheck.uk has it valued at only 36k from a main dealer, and WBAC are offering 33k. Is there a reason its so expensive from a private seller, as in .... is there something special about the spec? Or is the owner miss judging the pricing?
Thanks so much for any advice.

Apologies, I don't know the DB9 pricing market, nor the value of the plate, others have commented on that ^^
Just to say I laugh my socks off at WBAC valuations, they are sooooo low compared to a private sale price I bear them no regard at all. I am sure they do so as they have lots of undeclared problems to resolve, they're almost buying blind, get tat and so forth but I find them ludicrously low for a straight deal, although some must believe the adverts and want an easy life... I've never known a dealer's margin anywhere near what they offer on the cars I have priced.
Like all sales there will be a margin for negotiation in the private sale but you're right, some owners do over-value their pride and joy. Only you can judge what you're willing to pay by doing your own research but I have always sold by being realistic and priced for sale. Always plenty more fish...

WBAC is the online arm of BCA British car Auctions and the online price is the equivalent to your car trader trade in price, but its just a guide as if you then take it to any of their WBAC garages for them to buy they then reduce the price for every mark scratch kirbing etc.
The car is then sent to a BCA auction for them to get their profit.
I haven't and never will use WBAC, I've sold all my cars successfully on Autotrader.

Hi everyone
Really appreciate the feedback - fully agree on WBAC, this wasn’t really a question about them, more if anyone knew the car in question or any thoughts on DB9 values at the moment from this forum. The UK is in an interesting and unusual place for obvious reasons and my colleague is after some advice - car looks nice but seems expensive. Are there better cars around?
Also he said he has looked on PH and AT, I am guessing they are the best places, unless maybe there is a good owners club where he can get involved and maybe find something there.
Thanks again

If it helps by way of comparison I just sold my 2009 DB9 automatic sports pack coupé with a smidge over 27000 miles, full AM service history. I priced it at 45k and the first buyer bought it for 40k, and he was delighted. Condition is important.
I was offered rather less than 35k over the phone by a certain well known AM specialist who no doubt would have put it up at over 45k, and would probably have got it.

I would argue that some things end up at BCA from finance companies, and from main dealers who don't sell the marque in question, I also know one AM main dealer who sends stuff there - I saw a couple and called them to ask why as I was interested - and essentially they didn't want to spend the money getting it up to warranty status and/or they were missing service history - remember the main dealers are looking for about (by my calculations) £10k profit per used car.....otherwise how could they afford all that coffee, biscuits, glass and polished sandstone
Also there are people who need cash quick and sell to wbac (owned by BCA). (There are also as you mention those who sell to wbac because they know something is in need of attention that they can't or won't spend the money on).
I have bought a few cars from BCA which are from wbac and it really is a mixed bag - a couple have been cars that deceased estates get rid of quick and easily.

That makes a lot of sense.

This car is for sale privately, my colleague just punched the reg number into WBAC to see what their valuation was, as well as getting a valuation from one of the car checking websites (v-check I think) which said a main dealer would list the car at 36k, hence why he was querying the asking price of 45k.
Thanks so much.
