I currently have a V8V s I bought last year in the states. I will be coming back to the UK next summer and wondered if anyone has any thoughts on bringing the car back with me.

Obviously LHD is a pain but the shipping costs are reasonable and there will be no import duty. I have fitted a new twin plate clutch hydraulic lines the car is very clean perfect paint and well, my first Aston so special to me.

Anyone been through this before things to look out for?

Thinking purely financially. If a keeper then the LHD becomes irrelevant. Otherwise it presumably would not achieve a good price when selling in UK. Maybe LHD cars can find buyers in Europe mainland.

Would selling in US, then buying another in UK be better? Many Vantages available in UK.

Jon, my thoughts were along the same lines. So I could probably sell here for $50k or so but I won’t get an S in the UK for anything like that price.

I have sunk money into it here as well and it is very very clean so I guess my mind should really be made up I just have to put up with LHD.

I moved back to the UK from the US earlier this year and had a similar choice.

In the US I had a very nice 2016 Ford Mustang which I owned from new. But in the UK it would be more of a liability than an asset, selling a US spec car in the UK would be near impossible and you will take a massive hit on price as who would buy it over the readily available UK cars?
Hence it got sold in the US and I used the opportunity to upgrade to a 2016 Vantage S smile

I have lived and worked abroad a lot and don't mind left hand drive. I did ship my 50 year old Chevy pick up home...it arrived mid Apr and is still awaiting DVLA to register it.. 5 months and counting due covid!

When I came home from the US to the UK in 2010, I brought my 2008 Cayman with me. LHD wasn't a big problem except for paying at tolls and car parks, and I probably did half my mileage on the Continent anyway.

A minor advantage was that as a non-EU import, car tax was on the basis of engine size rather than CO2 emissions, so my annual tax was about £225pa.
