Harwoods V12VS RY65RNA - Anyone know it?
Discussion
I have been looking for a while for a vantage and have come across the V12VS at Harwoods in Chichester.
The car looks pretty good from the video/photos and appears to be good value (and just within my self inflicted budget), the only thing holding me back even calling about it, is that I live 550 miles away, that is one massive drive to be potentially disappointed.
Anyone here know about this car at all?

Very nice car, with lightweight seats as a bonus...........only from what I could see online photos and video.
If you look at its MOT history below its first MOT was 18/12/18 at 9,113 miles then it was MOT'd again in 5/5/19 at 9,329 miles.
There is a comment about "Nearside Front Tyre has a cut but not deep enough to reach the ply or cords"

I think I test drove it last year when it was for sale at leeds. It popped up again privately a few months ago and now at the dealer. Price has been falling steadily from high £80s. Nothing wrong with it when I drove it a year ago. Been sat there a while now which is odd for that car/spec.

I had looked at the MOT history and noticed the short date between tests, i could only imagine that it was sold in May 19 with a fresh MOT.If you look at its MOT history below its first MOT was 18/12/18 at 9,113 miles then it was MOT'd again in 5/5/19 at 9,329 miles.

Hopefully the tyre would have been replaced in the last 17 months and 4700 miles.

I have been surfing for an Aston all year, Covid kind of slowed my search down massively, and though I had seen this or similar privately earlier on.Any reason you didn't buy it?
I might give them a call today and see what the background is.

Pretty sure it’s the same car that was up privately you would have seen. The seller had used some of the pics from the Leeds dealer when they had advertised it previously which is why I made the connection, plus it’s the same spec.Any reason you didn't buy it?

The SS3 gearbox didn’t suit the kind of driving I was doing at the time (my first go in one to try it).
I'd been seriously considering it over the past few weeks. I agree is an attractive spec with the CF seats. It's just workload which hasn't allowed me to get down there (150 miles?).
I contacted the dealer and they were very helpful, providing me the following info (hope it's OK to share)...
I'm going to return to the search at the end of the month/November as originally planned. This one just made me try to jump a little earlier with the sticker price.

- The car has passed its Aston Martin Timeless Inspection with no issues.
- Tread depth Front- 775 and 455
- Rear tyres have been recently replaced
- Standard exhaust with a black textured finish
- Having just looked over the car the bodywork is in very good condition.
- The Front brake pads are 10mm the rear are 8mm

Nick - I’m happy to do a test drive for you and report back? I own a V12V (6 Speed Manual) but I’ve also got experience with the V12VS Sportshift. Chichester is super close to me and as I say -the wife works there so they’ll be accommodating.
If it helps let me know.
Cheers.
Chris.
Thanks very kind of you to offer! If it helps let me know.

Chris.
At present it’s simply a very busy period at work (weird times), so I’ll return to the search end of the month and November.
I want to take my time a bit more as choosing the right one is half the fun now I fully understand what I’m looking for (colour, CF seats, pref B+O, performance “GT12” exhaust a bonus, moon on a stick
). That one is very tempting and remains so.nickv8 said:

Oof! That's a bit of a unicorn spec. There was poster here (VULCANT?) with a matt dark purple V12VS that was up for over £150k that I think ticks all those boxes. I can't say I have seen one with the AMR power upgrade on AM's used stock list very often though. Maybe a couple of times in the last couple of years.
). That one is very tempting and remains so.If you want a competing view, I was keen to have the first three on your list, but the 700W system is actually pretty good. I also wanted B&O, having come from a car with B&O pop up tweeters.
The power upgrade: kind of depends what you want - power or noise. If noise, then you're looking at the upgrade. If power, Bamford Rose do a primary decat plus hiflow secondary cats which wil give you close to that extra 30bhp, but won't give you the noise, though perhaps if you ask them to go for an unbaffled option you might get it. And you'll have trouble with your Timeless warranty - in principle only if the claim is related to the exhaust, but in principle and in practice often don't align. FWIW after just over two years of Timeless I've decided to skip it and self-insure.Noting quite like being in freefall to focus the mind!
The thing that isn't on your list, which is worth considering even if only as a negotiating add-on from a dealer who is looking to shift a car that is hanging around, is CarPlay. The car needs to have AMiIII, which a 65 plate/16 MY car should have.
The Harwoods car is a very similar spec to mine (save for colour - I have Flugplatz). It may simply be that it is a marmite car, and is just waiting for someone who loves it to come along. It's very nice IMO.
Just had a look at the advert.
I think it looks great too!
I have the Performance Pack on mine.
It’s not actually a GT12 exhaust.
Standard exhaust is replaced by a full length titanium exhaust line and backbox, location of pipes are different than the GT12’s central exhaust pipes, Performance Pack’s pipes are the same location as standard.
The only visual difference is the lower diffuser which is carbon instead of painted body colour, and it has some fins at the bottom.
Other visual difference is when you open the bonnet, inlet manifolds are magnesium and black with no « ASTON MARTIN » script.
All very discreet, save for the sound which is epic.
I believe the Performance Pack is still available, pricey in relation to what the car is now worth on the second hand market though.

If you go down the secondary decat route the you will get a little additional power (circa 15bhp) plus extra noise and no issues with your warranty if you get OEM pipes in replacement. If you want a competing view, I was keen to have the first three on your list, but the 700W system is actually pretty good. Easy answer for CarPlay is to get Aston Installations to put it on for you.
So, noise, only 15bhp short of power pack and Apple CarPlay - saved you a pile of money there

As for the matt purple V12VS it seems to have been for sale for quite a few months now and disappeared from Autotrader but saw it advertised on one of the Aston FB pages. Price seems to vary quite a bit on different channels but a very different price area to where you are looking.

Ahh, yes, but the secondary decat leaves you at risk (depending on who you listen to and whether you believe them) of primary cat ingestion and then engine failure, Hence primary decat...BlackTails said:

100% agree this is going to be an ask! That’s why I think my search is going to be a long (or lucky) one.If you want a competing view, I was keen to have the first three on your list, but the 700W system is actually pretty good. I also wanted B&O, having come from a car with B&O pop up tweeters.

I’ve had two V8’s, each making me realise what’s important to make a special car even more so. I want to eventually find an example to as close as what I’d have spec’d it as from new. Pity I wasn’t in that position some years ago.
I am breaking it down like this:
1. Too expensive to bother retro-upgrading (based on cost differences of cars available): CF seats, B+O stereo, AMIii (integrated Apple CarPlay)
2. Bits I can change with factory spec over time; Performance pack (which I’d prefer on a V12 rather than the wonderful secondary de-cat on a V8), wheels (finish or even AMR ones)
3. More extreme changes if really worth it for a special car; paint colour, interior trim
Unfortunately, very few V12VS’ with SS, CF seats and B+O.
The previous V8VS has the 700W premium stereo, but I love the theatre of the B+O tweeters. I’m vein like that

So here’s the crux... when you end up with a V12VS with all this, why not save and stretch a tiny bit further and go for a CF bodied-example with even more special interior and impractical rear seats? It’s called a Vanquish S.
As they are starting to edge closer to £100k, they are starting to look like an immense (relative) bargain.
I’m just gonna enjoy this search process. I have many years to then enjoy that very special car.

It is the Leeds car and the one that was for sale privately a few months back.I was able to contact Autotrader and get the text from the old private ad. It looks like the dealership took the car off his hands, as still the same quantity of owners and only 200 miles more.
I had a good discussion about the car towards the end of last week, all good so deposit paid

As the dealership is so far away, they are even delivering the car on a truck, but can't come up with it until the 22nd.
I am in no massive hurry, so fits in fine.
Thanks for all of your thoughts, guys
