Hi guys
After a couple of years away from the Aston Brand (I have had 3 previously) I’m rejoining! Picking up my 2016 Vantage S hopefully next weekend and I’m looking for some carbon side strakes to match the front and rear splitter and defuser.
Absolute fortune from AM so was hoping that someone may have a set for sale....I know it’s a long shot!
Great to be part of this active group again and I will of course post pictures once I have it.

Welcome back smile

I keep looking at some on ebay for 1/2 price https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174202906309

I have been through 2 sets on my 2012 Roadster, the originals had pitted by the time it was 4 years old and the brand new set I replaced them with have just started to show tiny pin pricks of corrosion starting. after another 4 years. Ive even been putting anti corrosion stuff on them prior to each winter.

On my previous 2006 Vantage, over 9 years and over 80 miles the original strakes were like new. I wonder if AM changed supplier over the years because the newer ones seem poor quality chrome plating.

Im going carbon next time.....

If you are in the AM V8/V12 Vantage Owners Facebook group it could be worth speaking to Michal Pastryk. Not sure if he’s on here, but there are certainly guys on here who have bought CF parts from him. Just to add I’m not affiliated to his company in any way.

Best Regards

Gents,
If any of you do pick up a carbon set,
Drop me a message if you want to move on your old ones.
I'd like to have a go at carbon fibre skinning an old set like I have done with some interior bits to see how they come out
corrosion etc won't matter as I can take all that out before I begin

I've not had any of their stuff (yet) but those that have say it is excellent quality and clearly competitively priced.

Michal's carbon parts are absolutely top notch - haven't got strakes from him but his slam panels are excellent - good luck smile

Looks lovely!

Has anyone weighed the OEM (?steel) slam panel versus a carbon one. V8V if possible but if not then V12V still interesting info.

Thanks.

OEM is just plastic isn’t it? I thought the slam panels were just a cosmetic change.

The side strakes are a different matter - the factory items weigh 1.5kg for the pair - the carbon items must be a fraction of that.

I really don't think so. Could be wrong but I think it's painted metal. Mind you, I've just filled up my windscreen washer tank and that has about 5kg in it so if you want weight saving up front then run that nearly empty biggrin

Blimey, I may consider a matt carbon one then for myself!
Useful to know re washer tank, I’m surprised but admittedly I don’t recall filling it since purchase in Feb.

If you want to run it low then I'd advise taking the fuse out for the headlight washers as they use a lot of water. Also means the front /sides of the car don't get covered in bubbles/streaks and the pop-out jets won't break which they inevitably will if you use them. Win win smile

Definitely painted metal.

Had mine dipped to make it look like carbon as I’m not too worried about weight saving on something only seen when the bonnet is open,

+1 for definitely metal, but doesn't feel too heavy to justify the switch to carbon for weight reasons, at least for me. Aesthetic, that's another story. smile

Paid £130 for mine to be dipped , I can’t justify £800 + for the real thing that’s not seen much ,though many will call me a philistine for doing so.

Red Pants just made a video about the carbon slam panel:

He noticed a weight saving of 0,62 Kgs so yeah, not much.

Hi All

Yes I bought the carbon side strakes off Michael of ecps group, I ordered via eBay and the communication was excellent.

I asked all kind of pain in the ar*e questions and the response was quick and answered all I asked.

They quoted 5 working days delivery from Poland and again they were spot on, I was very nervous in un wrapping them as there is always a doubt in your mind when not buying genuine accessories.
I didn’t have to be concerned as the quality is wonderful , they match the front and rear carbon of my S perfectly!

I fitted them yesterday, little bit of a fiddly job especially the passenger side as there is a control ECU in the way but took me around 1.5 hours, I have the luxury of a lift to use as I own a garage so all in a days work so to speak.

My Vantage S is white so the new carbon strakes look great, I’m really happy!

Cheers Ian.

Mine were wrapped. Already done when I got the car. Perhaps a cheap solution but I think it looks okay. Sorry not the best photo!

Looking at Michael's website has me thinking of changing my gear surround to a carbon one. Does anyone know which finish is closest to factory, the matt or the shiney? Or better still does anyone have a genuine surround they no longer require that they would be willing to sell?
