Farm shop near York.
Hadn’t seen pics before or tv stuff.
Was on dirty weekend with (much) younger gf...
Totally blown away
Seen stunning cars in the flesh before but...
This thing was like nothing I’d ever seen before
Perfection on four wheels...
Ok maybe not perfection but the closest I’d ever seen to it... not that I’d know perfection even if I saw it...
That’s it.. nothing will ever come close again.. a once in a lifetime experience... in a poxy farm shop car park near York...

but make sure you put the right pictures up - we don't want you to cause heart attacks to the older generation here ....
afterall, it sounds as if it was rather raunchy:

Thank you for all the humorous replies
Interestingly, At the very time we visited that farm shop the Vantage I was to buy in 2016 was being built for its first owner.... spooky...
Oh, and apologies for the farm shop rudeness... it was a very nice farm shop. Actually I love farm shops.

Sorry, no pictures

My favourites chronologically...ish.. E type.. early 3.8 coupe.... jaguar mk2 3.8 again.. AC cobra... any version.. Daimler SP250... Lotus 7 (ok out of sync but was my first car)... MGA, rubbish at the time but would love one now.. big Healy... Jaguar S type... DB5... early Morgan’s.. especially 3 wheeler... Mk1 Spitfire.. my mum had one.. lots of others but those were the best of British design... ok let’s add the early elite and elan...
I always wanted an E type 3.8 coupe.. for me, the Vantage has fulfilled that dream... its the modern version (in my humble opinion)

My first was a DB4 near Dumbarton on the way to Glasgow in 1959. My father said it was the best car in the world and this was well before 007.
Then in 1971 was at RAF Cranwell when Charlie started flying there and he parked his DB6 Volante between the hangars where parking and vehicles were banned for the riff-raff. It was my first close up until chased away by the RAF police. I did not have the security clearance to service or work on his 2 aircraft reserved only for him. Both were much improved over the 'ordinary' planes.
That was until on a Friday lunchtime, he had landed with a fuel fault in a collector tank. The only technician with security clearance had buggered off early to Aylesbury and the Chief was having a pleasant afternoon with his younger girlfriend - don't think he was called Baconsarney?
The warrant officer got in a panic as the plane had to be serviceable for Monday morning and told me to fix it. 'Ah, but I do not have security for that.' 'But you can fix it, can't you?' 'Yes sir' I replied, 'I test them and service them as well as fit them.' 'Don't go anywhere' he said.
5 minutes later and apparently my security level was now satisfactory. Part replaced with a serviced item then a quick ground run to check.
Never did get a ride in the DB6 though.

Proper first sight of an Aston... I don't think I remember, in Italy those were very rare when I was a kid. I have two more recent-ish memories though, when I was living in southern Switzerland, more "common" there:
1. I think I was around in my Focus RS or my mate's ST circa 2007 when in front of us at a stoplight there was either a DB9 or a Vantage. I just remember I was stunned by the rear clear lights with the body-coloured dash in them, they just look like jewels, it was exquisite.
2. Same mate, used to be a drummer in a punk rock band, he had a small studio rented out in the basement of a big office building, to avoid annoying everyone when playing. Just outside of said studio, there was a -1 car park, often full with high end cars and exotics of people living nearby or left there as weekend cars. There she was, an incredible DBS. Admiring it, I noticed that on the passenger window, there was a kiss/lipstick mark (very sexy) and on the seat a piece of paper where you could read "call me" in Italian and some digits.
Needless to say, THAT was the moment when I decided I should have an Aston at some point in my life.

My first proper sighting was probably around 2006, a DB9 Volante on the M25 in a dark blue/navy colour. My wife and I (pre kids) were on our way abroad in the SL for a 2 week roadtrip staying at all the Relais & Chateau properties in France and Italy we could find. Although the SL performed brilliantly and the trip was epic, I really wished I’d been doing it in that Aston.
I poured over Every EVO magazine article and was mesmerised by the Top Gear episode on the Isle of Man (this was before the days of YouTube) when Vantage was launched it was like Aston could do no wrong in my mind. The DB9 was king, Bond was in a DBS, all was well in the world!
It was around 2005 I was at the Cross Keys traffic lights in Corsham, Wiltshire at nighttime I pulled up next to a brand new V8 Vantage in a light silver/blue colour, two chaps sat in it with the sat nav screen up and illuminated on the dash (That seemed space age to me at the time!) I couldn’t believe how low and muscular the car looked in real life. I was hanging out of my window grinning from ear to ear waving my thumb up to the bloke in the passenger seat (he must have thought I was deranged!) he obviously told the driver and when the lights changed I was rewarded for my enthusiasm. I don’t know who that bloke was, whether it was his new car or what but I wish I could meet him and thank him - the noise that thing made when it left the lights will live with me forever and it was that experience that cemented my love for Aston Martin.

That is exactly how I felt when I had the first face-to-face encounter with my later car at the main dealer. Had seen one a few times before, but it wasn´t until I came really close to the thing that I realized how dramatic its styling was - and still is.Edited by Emilio Largo on Tuesday 17th November 00:13
