Afternoon all,

Was hoping for a bit of help. I'm looking at the "new" Vantage - but was unsure whether or not it will fit into my single garage. The easiest thing to do would be borrow one from Aston but with covid thats at least another few weeks ago and I'm getting itchy feet! The garage has a regular single opening but then opens up to almost 3m on the inside. My AMG GTS fit with the mirrors folded and I could do the origami to get out, but I'm unsure about the swan doors on the Aston?

Thanks for any help!

There are many owners of the 'classic' Vantage on this forum, but hardly any have traded-in for the current model Vantage.

You might find more owners on the Facebook forum.

There's this old thread

That suggests one of these might be a solution

Hi Lites

How wide is the opening? 3m wide inside will be fine and the swan doors won’t make too much difference.

I test drove a new Vantage and took it home to see if it would fit in my garage. One of my concerns was the width of the new car, as my garage is integral, and it only measures 2.3m wide inside. All of the newer cars are a lot wider than the previous gen ones, particularly with the mirrors open. Anyway, it took me a little while, but after some faffing and plenty of beeping from the gizmos, I got it in. It was a snug fit and it was tricky to get out of the car, but it was doable. My door opening is a shade over 2.1m and the mirrors needed to be folded in to get through the gap. So unless your opening is much narrower than that, I reckon you should be good to go. By the way, I didn’t buy the My Parker product in the link that LTP has posted. My V12V is narrower than the newer car, and after plenty of practice, it’s not really a problem. Still a little bit tricky getting out of the V12V, but I’m used to it now, and losing some weight has helped too!

Hope that helps and good luck

Best Regards

Maybe I´m missing something, but as far as I remember the AMG GT(S) is 1.94m wide and so is the New Vantage (both without mirrors).

Can´t comment on the new model´s doors, but generally speaking the swan wing principle seems to help with the (old) Aston´s rather narrow door opening angle - so rather a plus in a narrow space in comparison with standard AMG doors, I suppose?

I think you are right EL. The problem I found with the new car was with the mirrors open. There is a big difference between the old and the new. I think it’s something like 2.025m v 2.153m. In a tight space that makes it really tricky, but a 3m wide garage should be fine. It’s only the door opening that could be an issue. The only real solution is to borrow a car and try it. As the OP said, some patience may be required until that’s possible though, but personally I would wait just to make sure. There are plenty of new Vantages out there, and another few weeks probably won’t change that, unless AM start offering last years deal again!

Best Regards

I'm fairly sure you'd be fine. I have a 2.4m wide garage and can get in and out of the DB11 no problem (it's only 2mm narrower than the Vantage minus mirrors, and the doors are a similar length), it just needs the windows down to gain a bit more room to squeeze in and out. You've an extra 600mm width so ought to have plenty of room.

I don't think the swan doors give you much in way of extra access and the mirrors only fold on locking. There is no manual electric fold, least I haven't found it if there is. Also the side cameras are on the mirrors so if they were folded by hand then the cameras wouldn't work.

As said previously the only way you'll find out for sure is to try it, I'm a bit far from you, but someone else must be closer.

Good luck,

Simon.

Power fold mirrors have always been a useful function on recent AMs. When I test drove the new Vantage, albeit a couple of years ago, the mirrors definitely folded, otherwise there is no way it would have fitted through the gap. If I remember rightly, the pear shaped mirror adjustment switch needs to be moved left or right, and held in position. Could be worth a try Simon.

Thanks for that, I just looked it up the manual and I cant believe I never spotted it. I want to go try it now, but the car has gone away this morning for a couple weeks for some body work fixes. I had to drive it into a transporter and it was tight, would have been happier folding the mirrors. Ah well, every day a school day.

Thanks again,

Simon.
