Higher mileage Mk2 Vanquish. Known issues?
Discussion
Modern Astons tend to behave better with miles under their tyres. Plenty of previous threads where owners do good mileage in their Gaydon model Astons without major issues.
Sometimes I consider Porsches worth a try, but I hear more noise of them having problems over many miles than Astons. Does kinda bust the old myths a little.

When I was test driving the 4.7 Vantage in 2009 prior to buying one the salesman at AM Amersham went through my car history with me.Sometimes I consider Porsches worth a try, but I hear more noise of them having problems over many miles than Astons. Does kinda bust the old myths a little.
He then said “Why have you never bought a 911?”
I replied “I nearly bought a 911 on two separate occasions but couldn’t go through with it.”
“I want people to meet me before deciding I’m a
”Thanks Gents. Just to put a little meat on the bone i currently have a 2008 V8V which is a keeper. I previously had one of the very first Vantages in 06.
I also have had a fair few Porsches including 911s and we have a pair of Cayennes as our daily runners.
Its specifically the later (2013 on) Vanquish niggles i am digging for.
It will either be a Vanquish or a 570 GT for my 50th self Birthday present to myself.
First World problems i know.
For info I hold the opinions of owners on forums far higher than the many vloggers out there.

Not sure if many gen 2 Vanquish will have covered enough miles to provide the feedback you are looking for. I am expecting front pads to last 40k, I'm currently at 18k. I am slightly concerned about the possibility of primary cat disintegration as the car gets older, so if it becomes long term keeper I may look into primary cat removal. So Cats and the possibility of ceramic disk replacement are the only big expenses I would worry about.
I would have no problems with a higher mileage AM, as others have said the car will be better.
When I purchased my Vanquish from an official AM dealer an independent report two weeks after found leaking dampers and leaking timing chain cover, both attributed to not using the car (800 miles in the previous year).
I have done 6,000 miles in the last 12 months (health reasons i.e. fresh air roof down) no problems, whatever you do buy get an independent inspection.

So far the Vanquish has been pretty reliable. Ensure a professional inspection and be 100% sure they know about ceramic brakes as they are one of the big ticket consumables.
Choosing the right specification aside, remember that the Vanquish enjoyed an extensive upgrade for the 15MY (new Touchtronic lll, new ECU suspension set-up, etc) balance the dynamic and performance improvements against the cheaper earlier cars (try and drive both). High mileage cars will obviously be cheaper but you will likely have higher running costs and harder resale, but I agree very little used cars can have problems, so consider the middle ground. Having an Aston on your drive for your 50th would be awesome result

Thanks Grant.
I've looked at the Vanquish for a long time. I've been an Aston owner for nearly 15 years but with Vantage. I recall when Vanquish was released and it looked the stuff of millionaires and (hate to say) Premiership footballers.
The current price looks a steal to me although my current Vantage has been very reliable and , save the insurance stamps very cheap to own.
I really have no intention of selling the current V8V, it will join my Esprit and a few other 'relics' as part of the less used but equally loved collection.
