I recently purchased a 2007 V8 Vantage and absolutely love the car. This is my first Aston and while it has its quirks I really enjoy the artistry and attention to detail throughout. Although living in the US now, I'm a UK citizen by birth and this car really speaks to my love for my old home.

The vehicle itself has been reasonably reliable, but as part of replacing an intermittently faulty door lock actuator the dealer accidentally broke the left side window regulator. While I've not had issues getting anything else I need on the car, the window regulator is apparently very difficult to obtain at present. I found a couple of right side ones on eBay, but no left side (I assume they're not interchangeable).

Sorry to make my opening post here a plea for help, but if anybody has any good ideas on where or how I might get my hands on a coupe left window regulator (even without the motor) so I could get back to enjoying my "new to me" baby, I would be most appreciative.

Thanks for any help and happy motoring.

Philip.

Thanks for the welcome and the AstonBits link. Unfortunately the "backorder" situation appears all pervasive. At this point I'd take a used one, but those seem hard to find too, most likely due to low numbers of these cars being totaled.

Try HWM too - it’s not listed on their website but they have one of the largest stocks of AM parts.

Scuderia Parts another alternative but not the cheapest.

What exactly have they broken ? I’m a big believer in fixing things, especially where they’re mechanical, unless of course they’re worn out. So much gets chucked these days that’s easily serviceable.

Snapped metal and plastic can be welded, cables, cogs etc replaced.

Maybe post up a pic of the broken bit and see if someone can come up with an out of the box idea.

Regarding prospect of repair: I actually had that discussion with the service guy this morning. He said that he'd asked the same thing and the tech had said that the plastic was very thin where it broke and a repair likely wouldn't hold the window up. I asked him to take another look given that a replacement is not readily available and see if maybe additional material could be used to reinforce the piece. I'll see if he can text me a picture.

Thanks also for the HMW recommendation - I've reached out to them to see if they have one.

If you can extract the broken bits it’s easy to glue them back together, then get them scanned and a new bit 3D printed.

There's a breaker in Latvia selling part number 6G33-F23201-AE on eBay. Obviously this will be a used part.
They don't seem to ship to the States for some reason, but it might be worth contacting them. Maybe send to a friend/family member in the UK?

Alternatively, if it can be superglued back into position it can then be properly reinforced with some chopped carbon offcuts of 5-10mm and a gob of two part epoxy. Mixed into a black paste and stippled in using a wooden lollypop stick you can make the strongest of repairs. Just need access.

Thanks to all for all the helpful suggestions. Truly grateful for such a helpful community of enthusiasts.

I've sent a message to the Latvian seller (which Cold was kind enough to locate) to see if they will consider sending their part to the US if I compensate them for the additional effort.

The dealer is taking a picture of the damaged part and I will post it here. Apparently it's one of the little plastic brackets which slide up and down the rails, so it might be a bit on the small side to properly reinforce.

By the way, HMW responded very quickly and informed me that they too are waiting on several of these, so apparently I'm not alone in needing one.

I will update this thread if I hear anything back from the eBay seller.

Uh oh! That might bring back some painful memories because that's Steveway"s car from on here. Can't remember exactly what happened but it looks bad.

Here are the pictures of the part that broke.

And here's my beautiful "baby" ..

Thanks for the link to the guys breaking up the V12. Always sad to see something like that happen but perhaps we can put the part to good use. I hope the owner was OK.

I believe it's this piece here .. looks like it broke in a place that might be tough to fix.

That wasn't a branch, it was an entire forest.

Good news on the BR exhaust. Did you get the Larini backbox too?
