Hi all,
I’m near the end of my 3 bay garage build, that will house my V12V (when I’ve found the right one), does anyone here have a garage with a 2 post lift, and can it lift a V12? I ask as it just occurred to me that’s it quite a bit lower than your average shopping trolley.
Cheers

Are these known as 2 post lifts?
A very neat design.
The upright telescopic supports must have to be very strong and rigid.

I have a 2 post lift in my garage. It did lift my DB9 with no problems. Ideally a straight run to drive on to it, or lots of shunting about to centralise. I have the use of my neighbours workshop with full garage facilities. So I don't tend to use my lift now

Thanks,
I think the 2 post lift is the way to go, but I just can’t help thinking that the base plates look too small for the leverage that must be present when the loads are not centred, it must be ok as there are 1000’s out there inc yours.

Cheers

I dug a meter square out and reinforced the concrete. With bolts welded on to a steel plate in the concrete. I then bolted the uprights on to the bolts sticking out. Belt and braces approach

Make sure you get a low 2 post lift,

we have a 2 post although never lifted the v12vs, I don't think the arms would swing under the car.

it's main use is land rovers, just something to keep in mind (you can get around it like driving on blocks of wood etc)

Go for this type of lift with the ultra low arm option https://www.liftmasterge.com/garage-products/lmh3s...

Hi,
I bought a 2 post hoist not too long ago.
My advice would be to buy the best quality you can. Mine can lift 4500kgs, plenty for any car.

Look for one where the legs go right to the floor and have adjustable pads. The pads will need to be just a touch higher than the legs so they dont hit the body.
With the car being low, you have to be careful to position the pads in the correct spots as you know.
If you need anymore info on what i have, let me know and i will dig something out.

One of the best tools in the shed imo..

Cheers,
Gary.

Many thanks Gary,
I can certainly see that a 2 post lift has many advantages, did you have to install additional reinforcing in/on the floor ? and I guess you have the 'clear floor' type ?
