I've just received the latest copy of Vantage magazine and have seen that Nicholas Mee have a very fine 2018 V12SMR (Q) up for grabs.

The question I have, is that they're claiming it's one of just 36 production cars ? That can't be right, I know that the AMR is for all intents and purposes a different model, so we'll exclude those. I assume they mean one of 36 UK production cars, as surely a chunk of others went to the US and mainland Europe, plus probably a few to Japan etc ?

There must have been more than 36 V12SMR built........anyone know ?

That's a nice looking car indeed but I think they are being pretty optimistic with the price. The new price can't have been that much more than the asking price. I think my spec is similar in terms of the personalisation and is a Q car as well but I don't think mine would be worth that in this market, even being a 2018 car with not much more miles.

As for the numbers, 36 UK cars might be right but I would doubt if that would be correct for worldwide numbers.

The production numbers (36 UK RHD) were supplied by the registrar of the Aston Martin Heritage Trust. This was actually the last V12 V S M R built, on the 30th March 2018 and being a 2018 MY example, it is fitted with the 600bhp AMR engine. The specification was chosen in consultation with Q. The car has covered just 830 miles from new, by its sole owner.

The price of this car when new was over £207k.

Did the 600 hp come from the "powerkit" that was offered or was it something else special to the AMR?

Amazingly there are 2 V12VSR manuals for sale in the USA at the moment. Ranging from 170k-180k USD.

Expensive, but a defining car for AM I'd say. Likely the values will slowly go up on these manuals as they are so rare.

The car above is a questionable color spec, but the bar grill looks better than the standard " V12V S" grill.
Wonder if the bar grill is a straight swap for any "V12V S"?

That is a beautiful spec - but I agree the upper dash needs to be chocolate, and it needs a hard top on it - had it been a tin top I would have been on the phone to NM !!!!

My understanding is that there were also 100 V12VS manuals sent here to the US and that only 34 of those were roadsters.

Honestly, can't stand the orange interior and exterior highlights, but the bar grill and diamond stitching are nice.

Here are the ones for sale in the US:

I don't know if anyone else remembers but when the V12VS was launched AML said you couldn't put the 6-bar grille on it because of airflow or cooling issues or something ...... rolleyes

Ya... always thought that was BS with the "the bar grille will ruin the aero". I bet it's more or less a direct swap.

I remember that Pete, but I reckon it's bks smile

I'll be fitting a platinum 6 slat onto mine in spring, always thought they look far better than the CF jobby.

Also on the hunt for a set of lightweight wheels if anyone is thinking of flogging any biggrin

A very nice car and certainly a unique and special spec, with very low milage. Deserves to be driven!

I can well imagine the price of that car was as said above (and no reason to doubt given who posted it). The Powerkit 595bhp option was £18k alone, and seemingly little things like the 12 o-clock contrast stitch was £1500 itself when I enquired on my build, so very easy to get to north of £200k.

As for the number of 36 cars, I think this sounds quite viable as don't forget there were very few dogleg manuals made full stop and only around 200 or so sold in the UK, if you exclude the AMR final run. So 36 roadsters in the UK out of 200.... quite likely I suspect.

I do imagine that 36 doesn't however include any AMR V12 Roadsters as those would technically not have been V12VS's as such, but thats just a hunch..... Either way, not many in total.

There were 20 UK AMR Roadsters (of a worldwide build of 29) and I believe there was one Red Bull Racing Roadster too, so we could ascertain there are in the region of 57 7sp manual Roadsters in the UK...
