Aston Martin Vantage 420
Discussion
Hi, looking for some information really if anyone can help, i'm looking at a 2011 420 model, what should i look out for when viewing, it does have full AMSH and has 35k miles, is this to many miles and what price should this be roughly, ive been told the car is prestine condition, its not from a certified dealer so i would book it straight in for a service if i had it even though t is serviced up, it would also come with a 12 moth mot so should be ok, any thaughts or recommendations appreciated.
thanks
thanks
I recall there is a guide on here but basic points are full service history, this should be annually, check the clutch is smooth and not heavy, look for corrosion on the doors, check headlight LED’s work any look for oil misting around the engine, apart from this standard used car checks.
since specs of 420's tend too be similar, a browse of all the 420s listed on ph or auto trader should give you a ballpark for the appropriate price. More from a dealer, less privately, bit more from a franchised dealer but you will probably then get a timeless warranty which is ok if not exhaustive.
fwiw we bought ours from dealers - first was 2014 but engine blew up (most unusual) and whilst AM were happy to replace it free, we returned the car - it hadn't been used enough, I think - and second was 2017 model. We wanted the peace of mind of the warranty. (Thought long asndf hard about on in Scotland privately but lack of warranty and distance and unwillingness of owner to take it anywhere for pre-purchase inspection killed that deal). If buying older and it's from a known specialist or performance car specialist with a good reputation, I'd have little worry buying it, though might ask them to pay for a 12 month warranty or similar. If from a general dealer, I'd want to get it at a good price and then have it looked over.
It's a risk/cost thing.....

I have a N420 and love it. In the US, I would not pay anything more than $40k (30k pounds?) for it, considering the mileage. But again I am no expert.
Two big items you should check for.
1. Clutch wear: Get one of these https://www.foxwelltool.com/wholesale/nt510-multi-...
and look at the Kiss point Delta.

2. Check for Time cover leak. See

Good luck!

most seem to be lowish mileage, and if they are maintained are ok - but as with all cars they re generally better if used a bit. It does have a tendency towards gentle battery drain so keeping it on trickle charge is sensible. But they are solidly built and likely o give you much old-school fun and pleasure.....

I second Ganz, I have one too and I am very happy with it. To me, it's the best design for the 1st gen Vantage, I love the way carbon is added. Know that the N420 will have the Sport Pack as standard, hence a firmer ride. I will put on this week Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, I honestly hope to improve the harshness of the Bridgestone. Two big items you should check for.
