Smartire Dealer Programming Tool

Hi

I replaced my Tpms sensors in my DBS with some Autel MX programmable sensors which I was able to programme with the same IDs as the removed smartire sensors so they talk to the original smartire receiver.

Unfortunatley the Id on the sticker on the original sensor of my front left tyre was worn off so I don't know what it is. It's also totally dead so I can't read it with the Autel tool.

I will obviously be able to get the dealer to retrieve the Id or programme a new one into the receiver next time the car is in, but apparently I can do this with a dealer programming tool. These however are no longer available.

I was wondering if anyone on here happened to have one which I could borrow.

Thanks, I did follow this actually, I have the ts401 and have successfully programmed 3 wheels. My problem is the sensor that I had removed from the front left, and ironically the only one that had actually gone flat, has lost its numbers see pic below. So I have no way of telling what value I should reprogramme the new Autel sensor with.

Hence I was asking if anyone had the smartire tool for reading the smartire config or changing it. I imagine I am most likely going to need to get the dealer to do it though.

Ah ok, in this case I can't really help. You can try maybe to hit up Smartire support? Worth a try?

Try looking under your tow eye tool kit ( left hand side of your boot under the pull out carpet ) sometimes a set of sensor bar codes were hidden under there. Not always but worth a look. X

There is a way with most to break them open and replace the cells with a bit of work

If you can get the old transmitter working you can then clone it

I have all the codes and the colours in a pack with the car documents. A tiny clear pocket with four bar codes, each with a dot for the colour and the number. Might be worth a rummage... fingers crossed.

Otherwise might be worth the battery replacement option.

Thanks all, I did break apart the sensor and wire up some.external batteries to try and get it working but couldn't seem to get any signal from it. Even when vigorously shaking it. I did get a signal from some of the good ones.

Worst case scenario, you could have 3 new Autel sensors and buy a new Smartire one from the dealer? Will they work together on the same network?

Hi, it will still need programming with the new sensor. I may as well just give the Autel one an id and set it as a smartire with the autel ts401 and get them to programme that one in.

It should work fine, dealer is a 4 hour round trip though so that would have to wait.

Having just reprogrammed my 2008 Aston Martin Vantage Smartire TPMS system to accept Autel sensors I thought I'd start a separate post to let everyone know that this is a simple process as long as you have the Autel TS508 hand held programming device and Autel MX sensors. These must be bought from a bonafide distributor such as Euro Car Parts as there are an awful lot of counterfeit ones on eBay etc. The TS508 is expensive tool at £479.99 and at the moment comes with four metal valve sensors and four rubber ones.

However for the price of a drink I'm happy to program your Autel MX sensors.

The procedure is very simple and straightforward as long as you have the serial number off your old Smartire Sensors, which can be read off the old sensors once they have been removed from the wheel.

The quick, easy and cheapest way to programme the Autel MX-Sensors, that replace the old, defunct or even the not working Smartire sensors, in or out of the tyres is by using the Autel MaxiTPMS PAD:
As the MaxiTPSM Pad is currently available from China on eBay for just £67.37 it is by far the cheaper option for programming the replacement valves.
Autel UK told me “The minimum tool for the programming is the MaxiTPMS TS508WF” which they sell for £795 plus postage!

How to do it.
Install the updated Beta version of the Maxipad software from https://we.tl/t-RHdNM4aVCQ

If the Smartire sensor is in the tyre and working:
1. The tyre will need to be deflated and re-inflated a number of times so get ready to be able to do this easily.
2. In the AM section of the Maxipad programme select the correct AM model and year.
3. Go to the ‘create’ tab and ensure HEX is selected. VERY IMPORTANT!
4. Go to the ‘copy’ tab.
5. Hold the Maxipad next to the Smartire sensor
6. Press Test
7. While the programme is testing deflate the tyre down to about 10psi and then re-inflate.
8. You will probably need to repeat 6 and 7 a number of times to get a reading.
9. Once you see ‘Test Success’ place the Autel sensor on the Pad and Click ‘Program’
10. Wait until you see ‘Programming Successful’ and the sensor is then ready to be installed.
FYI: When you remove the Smartire Sensor the ID code on it will be the Decimal equivalent of the HEX found by the PAD.

If the Smartire sensor is out of the tyre and working or not working:
1. Look for the ID code on the sensor like this 173-1-1-0026106
2. Go to https://www.binaryhexconverter.com/decimal-to-hex-...
3. Enter the last 7 digits from the sensor code (0026106) into the ‘Decimal Value’ box and click ‘Convert’.
4. Or if you use MS Excel convert with the formula =DEC2HEX(number)
5. Note on the ‘Hexadecimal Value’. (FYI: Three of my HEX codes were numeric and the fourth was an alpha-numeric).
6. In the AM section of the Maxipad programme select the correct AM model and year.
7. Go to the ‘create’ tab and ensure HEX is selected. VERY IMPORTANT!
8. Enter the ‘Hexadecimal Value’ into the Sensor ID box. (I added 0000 in front to make an 8-digit code but this may not be necessary).
9. Place the Autel sensor on the Pad and Click ‘Program’.
10. Wait until you see ‘Programming Successful’ and the sensor is then ready to be installed.

In either procedure the Sensors can also be programmed while still in the tyre.
The newly programmed Autel sensor can be tested by holding the pad next to the valve in the tyre or by placing the sensor on the pad and clicking ‘Check MX-Sensor’ in the Test Tab.

I won’t go into details here on how I discovered how to do it but it took me four days with absolutely NO HELP from Autel support Asia, EU or UK who only gave me misleading information and wanted me to purchase their expensive option. UK even said “The maxipad was never officially sold in the UK, and it will NEVER be able to programme your sensors”.

One further worthwhile task was, as the OE coloured rings do not fit the MX sensors, I used electrical coloured shrink wrap tubing – looks great!
My new sensors are now installed and working perfectly with a nice green LED on the control module.
Autel TPSM sensors have various details in the Information box after you have clicked 'Check MX-Sensor’ in the Test Tab.
Just curious, I was wondering if anyone knows what HW, SW, AC, PSN or PV/PT stand for and what they mean?
