Should the carpet be secured in some way, when the seat moves forwards it pushes the carpet with it.

Carpet or mat? The carpet is held in place by two aluminium extrusions under the seat. Fairly sure you will need to remove the seat to access the torx screws that hold it in place from above though. The front has a Velcro strip under it.

Carpet, it looks like it should be secured under the seat somehow.

Do you have accessory mats? In my 2015 V8V I only have the actual carpet (the driver's side having the plastic heel mat), and the rear edges of both driver and passenger carpets are trapped under the front of the seat runner mounts.

No accessory mats just carpets, I assume I will need to take the seat out to relocate it where its supposed to be.

You might get away with loosening the rear seat rail bolts and removing the front two. Tilt the seat back on its rails and access the two aluminium plates? Disconnect the battery in advance though otherwise you might end up with sore chops from Airbag detonation!

Job done, with the seat back as far as it will go the 2 aluminium plates are easily accessible, no need to unbolt the seats.

Yep, just checked, plenty of room with the lightweight seats too. All sorted now?
