Hi all, I've recently picked up a 2006 V8 vantage. Happy doesn't quite cover my emotions as I picked it up.

There's a couple of bits that need to be sorted and thanks to the wealth of the information on the forum it's helped me understand the cost and level of work.

The interior rear view mirror on the car has tarnished/delaminated on the edges. Is the mirror glass replaceable, if so could someone point me to the replacement glass? It's a manual mirror rather than the auto dimmer unit.

Thanks!

Hi welcome to the fold. I've got a 2006 Vantage too.

Not sure if you can get the glass but here's a link to a mirror assembly about £80.00. https://www.astonmartinbits.com/models/5-V8-Vantag...

Our generation vantage is a bit of a Ford & Volvo parts bin so quite possible its an assembly from a Focus or something similar which would be pennies by comparison.

See if you can get one with garage door opener built in as well. Wiring should already be there I think.

Pretty sure it’s a Volvo part.

You made me chuckle Jonny.

The cheapest mirror is from a Volvo dealer so that is good, but then I will need a new electric garage door for the mirror to work fully.

wink

And also remote exhausts like CC Charger ones if I am not mistaken!

That's interesting - I've been unable to use mine, since my (new) garage door system seems incompatible. I will try setting it up with the CC exhaust remote and let you know how it goes.

Anyone got any ideas for the garage door?

Yep - forgot to mention that !

I have mine programmed for that. Looks pretty cool (to me anyway) being able to press a little button on the mirror and have the exhaust note change.

Good find Ricky - one for the alternative parts sticky I think if you don't mind posting up...

I too have struglled to pair my garage door with the buttons on the mirror, must be the wrong frequency. I did manage to pair the exhuast remote so it wasn't the car at fault.

Thanks for the pointers to Aston bits and the Peugeot option. Any ideas if the Volvo mirror is the same as the Peugeot approach of changing the mirror over to the stem or is it a straight swap?

Tbh Id need a new house for the garage door and automatic gates for the garage controls to be useful 😄
