Hi All,

I see that DBXs have started to appear in the AM Used listings. The prices look high to me with the base list being £158K. What is driving the price to £175+?

Thanks

Josh

Have you looked at the price list for extras?

That’s what I am missing. Can’t find it! Can’t you point me in the right direction? But even then the price still seems high. maybe i used to more depreciation wink

Don’t have the extras price list but when my wife and I specced a fairly straightforward car they estimated it at £175k. I am sure if you added a few carbon bits and some wheels it would have reached £190k without doing any Q stuff.

The configurator doesn’t help.

Try this review with one specced to £195k.

Hopefully for the sake of AML, the high price you mention is due to strong demand creating a premium.

We will not know the DBX sales figures for a while, but I do hope this model sells well, because it will be important for the finances of AML.
Overall cash coming in, instead of continuing to flow out.

More than important for the finances; in line with the Cayenne turnaround model it may be essential for their survival.

I bet they are all the dealer demo versions which will have been specified quite high I suspect. No point having a poverty spec base model to sell punters the money making extras if they cant see them !

When i was buying my used DBSS the sales guy told me he had sold 8 DBXs.
With a base list of 155k the cheapest one had gone out at 178k!!!

The ones online are all around £178k. Some with 7K miles on them. As I said I am just used to bigger depreciation after owning 2 vantages, 1 DB9.2, 2 Rapide S’s and one Vanquish S. happy to see an Aston hold up on value for the sake of the company.

I hope they sell quickly to indicate there is a pent up demand ?

I ask as I am surprised the Bristol one (which was advertised on social media as 'available' a few weeks ago) is still around?

The other comment I would make is that they are all (white one accepted) fairly conservative colours.... ie grey and black....so not sure what impact that would have - personally I would prefer a bolder colour.

I've seen a couple in the last month, just while walking in my local area. 1 of them I am pretty certain is a Sevenoaks AM car due to the reg plate.

With that spot rate I'm pretty sure these are going to sell well. Definitely wouldn't be my choice of car if I was spending that level of money on a everyday driver.

I have done a page save to remember the 8 DBXs advertised today.
If I remember, will take a look in a few weeks time.
Hopefully by then, all eight will not be for sale.

Certainly a rather unscientific attempt at trying to judge DBX sales demand, but until the AMLGH preliminary results are announced, we don't know how long the waiting list for this important new model actually is.

The same 8 cars advertised for sale on 29th January, are still listed for sale. One main dealer example shows a price reduction.
3 additional DBXs have now been added to the for sale list.

I wonder how much Covid-19 is affecting the willingness of people to go into showrooms, kick tyres, browse the options lists (then swallow hard) and actually sit in and drive demonstrators.

Before the lockdowns started in earnest my local dealer had a black DBX in as a demonstrator (I didn’t think that black showed it off to it’s best, but that’s just my opinion, despite me owning an Onyx Vantage). I was chatting to the guy that sold me my car and, gesturing at the DBX, said that they must be glad to finally have a car to show and he told me it was already sold as they had a customer who wanted a black one and didn’t want to wait. I don’t think the car had even turned a wheel in a test drive. At the time I though that must bode well, but things have changed since then, obviously.

Nottingham have a red demonstrator ready for selling at circa £182k.
IMO I didn’t get the Aston Martin growl from it that I get when driving my Rapide V12 , nor the sense of occasion.

Totally empirical stat, but I have seen absolutely 0 DBX on the road here in Milan so far. Granted, any Aston is quite rare here. Saw it in the flesh at the dealer though, I like it.

This is a terrible thing to say, but trying to persuade people out of their Range Rovers that cost around half the price won't be an easy feat. Some will obviously love the exclusivity of it (who wouldn't), but for me a RR is every bit as luxurious as I could ever want, and if you go for the SVR it's as fast as you'll ever want too.

If you look at the wider world, you're never far from a JLR dealer, so repairs and maintenance aren't a problem, AML isn't quite so simple for some folk.

I really like the DBX and hope it sells really well, I'm just pointing out some of the obvious headwinds it faces.

Saying that, I believe the Bentayga has sold quite well, so I'm probably talking total bks biggrin
