Vantage Badge Fixing
Discussion
Pleased to hear the badge is only affixed with double-sided tape as I need to remove the S badge that one of the previous owners added to mine. Not sure who he/she thought they were kidding but it needs to come off before I take her anywhere.
Any recommendations for the best way to go about removing it?

Slowly pour a Kettle of boiling water on it, take your time. Lever it off with an old credit card. Very gently!Any recommendations for the best way to go about removing it?
Clean up with sticky stuff remover or Petrol. Finish with polish, wax or your favoured coating.

With incredible care as the paint is so soft. With no warranty offered or implied and assuming the badge has been attached with the usual automotive foam adhesive tape, what I've done in the past on Volvos, etc that I wanted to de-badge is to warm the badge and the adhesive with a hot-air gun (a hair dryer on full might suffice) and, when the adhesive has softened, gently peel the badge off, making sure the opposite edge doesn't dig into the paint - you could put a credit card under that edge to prevent this. The foam adhesive will tear - some will come off with the badge; some will remain on the car.Once the badge is off you'll usually be left with some adhesive foam remnants. I tend to roll these off with a thumb (it'll roll and smear like chewing gum), which will just leave adhesive traces. For this I'll use meths and then, on the Volvo at least, I'd use a mild abrasive to clean the paint up - something like Cif from the kitchen: I would NOT recommend this on Aston paint. If you still have adhesive traces, try WD40 and a soft cloth or you can get specialist adhesive removal sprays - I've got something called CT1 Multi Solve in the garage.
In all this having the adhesive warm is the key. Hope this helps.
This is the tape quite a lot of bodyshops and PPF installers use for refitting badges. You stick the badge onto the tape then carefully trim around it with a sharp modelling knife then pull the badge away and stick it to your car.

Looking at this listing it appears to be a normal adhesive tape on a carrier with release papers. If I'm right then I wouldn't recommend it (irrespective of who uses it) as you need a foam tape, the foam to take out any slight mismatch between the badge shape and the panel shape.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAR-BAGE-LOGO-EMBLEM-BA...
You only need a slight mismatch in the flatness or curvature between the panel and the badge and you'll end up with just a one or two point contact, rather than contact over the whole badge surface area. Non-foam tape might be OK-ish with a flexible plastic badge but Aston badges are metal and will not bend or conform.
These are the sort of tapes I'd think of using (no recommendation implied) https://www.vikingtapes.co.uk/collections/3m-exter... (you might get them cheaper from other retailers). I'd be inclined to go for a black tape and you could use two strips side-by-side if the tape is narrower than the badge. The OEMs may use grey but usually they are using die-cut adhesive patches that are a millimetre or so smaller than the badge, so the tape edge cannot be seen.
Just my opinion.
I recently removed the rear badge from my vehicle because it was loose, and I am looking for advice on how to properly reattach it.
The back of the badge is not flat, and while the old foam is still present, the surface is recessed. Simply applying adhesive to the existing foam will not work as it is not level with the depth of the badge.
Can anyone recommend the best type of adhesive and the proper process for securely gluing the badge back on?
Many thanks,
