Rear Exhaust Pipe Removal
Discussion
Hi All,
Looking for any tips on how to remove the rear right section of exhaust pipe ( the one that runs down the side of the auto trans on my DB9), not only for maintenance access but to renew it’s forward clamp that has broken.
I have disconnected at both end but with years of being static it’s all rather solid.
Any advice that doesn’t involve sawing or generally destroying said part would be appreciated.

Don't need to cut or chop anything!
If your talking about the drivers side, what you'll find is a clamp downstream from the secondary cats, loosen that, you'll see a short piece of pipe around 6 inches to another clamp loosen that, you can remove that small length of pipe.
Go down the exhaust pipe and loosen the clamp next to the auto box then remove the middle exhaust section. The middle section is connected together with a bracket so remove that bracket.
To remove the rear exhaust section just unbolt the 2 bolts at the rear silencer and there is a rubber mount just near the autobox, use some silicon grease to enable that to slip off.
You may need to remove the rear subframe lower crossmember by removing 4 M12 bolts to remove the rear pipe.

Thanks for that, I’ll have a look next time I’m under there. I hope I can get access as the car is up on my scissor lift which does somewhat restrict work to the middle of the car!
