Welsh run...to beat the lockdown blues...

Having had 4 foreign trips and holidays cancelled over the past 10 months, and given that it's also unlikely that our next Mac/Aston Spain & Portugal trip rescheduled from April 2020 will be going ahead April 2021 either is all a bit depressing.



So, I wondered if a few of you fine gang would fancy a couple of days away in my beautiful Wales?



Having been here on Aston PH over 6 years now many of us will have met at events and I have made many good friends and had great drives, so hopefully doesn't seem any more random than paying a tour company three times more to drive twice as slow!



So, if anyone is of a similar mind and likes a nice meal, few drinks, friendly chat, partners included and some safe pacey driving in beautiful locations do let me know.



I’d suggest:
UPDATE - The dates will now be Friday 21 and Sat 22 May , meet Caffeine & Machine for lunch. Drive to Wales to include the glorious B4391 near Bala, overnight in mid wales with drinks and dinner.

Saturday May 22, early start for Beulah/Elan Valley/Llyn (lake) Clywedog B4518, Military Road/ Aberystwyth Hinterland/ fab lunch & overnight at mid wales hotel. More drinks and dinner!

I know my home patch well and have organised many successful trips throughout Europe over the years & taken Pro shots for everyone to enjoy.



No monies required to me as a direct booking with the hotel secures the spot.

Let’s free these ponies and have something to look forward to! I’ll limit it to 8 cars – ideally all hot hatchback Rapides but may let riff raff in in with 2 seater skateboards ;-)

Are we talking about this year Dewi as your days/dates don't match up? Friday is 16th not 17th.

Glad you are up for it and some other nice chaps I already know. I might bring my new e-bike and we can have a sprint around the block and show you what a dash of 85Nm of Bosch torque can do to a Pinarello whippet ;-) We'll call it the Lance Armstrong fair-do's challenge

I'll DM all next week with more and sincerely hope this is all realistic and will be doable as my new Rapide has only had one minor run since I bought it in May.

I’d be happy to drive from South Wales and meet up in mid Wales if that would be ok with you guys. Lockdown is VERY strict in Wales at the mo though with the PoPo stopping and fining regularly. Who knows if things will ease by 16th April?

A little disappointing that the rein hasn't been loosened a little more by the powers that be in the Welsh lockdown review on Friday, but if its the last of the lockdowns I can put up a little longer! Its hinted that self contained accommodation will be allowed in the next review in 3 weeks (only).

So, what do you think on the dates guys? Is 16th & 17th April a little early maybe? If we bumped it to 14th & 15th May. This would have the bonus that all of us over 50 would be the right side of the first vaccination too?

I'm not entirely sure what "self contained accommodation" is but I can do the May dates as well so am happy either way. Maybe better weather; maybe better access to pubs; could make sense.
