AM Works or Bamford Rose.

As i was just reading the DB9 thread where someone mentioned that the car had just been serviced at works so any faults would have been discovered. This made me think if you were buying an Aston which of the two would you feel more comfortable knowing the car has been serviced by them?
In the days of fixed price servicing, I wonder if the answer is something like “the one which had the biggest repair bills” - a stamp is after all just a stamp, and having a service and declining remedial work still gets you a stamp.
Now I have never used BR but have used works a lot and I have never had complaints with their service.

I have never used BR, but have used Works for the last 10 years or so. Always get the same guy looking after my cars (he is awesome, WH), never had any issues with quality of work or service, quite the reverse actually and the person who manages everything (SV) is also brilliant.
Highly recommend!

It was me who posted that. I didn’t specifically mean that works was any better than any other main dealer or an independent AM specialist, just that someone who knows what they’re looking at would’ve checked over the vehicle and noted anything else that they felt needed doing. Rather than just having a service by the garage that was selling it. That fact that it was only a hundred miles or so previously would be a bonus for me.As Reformed has just said ,another vote for Works -and for SV in particular although I don't think the same person has always worked on my various models over the years.
Works are also happy to negotiate on prices -providing you ask nicely -this includes Tyres.
Was there on Friday dropping off my GT8 and the workshop was a busy as ever.

BR for me every time. Dealers are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get. With BR you know you’re getting the people who helped develop the car and know the V12 and VH cars inside out. Plus you’re not going to be paying for fancy showrooms, some girl on reception to direct your call and guys walking around in suits with bits of paper.
Mike can be a nightmare to get hold of sometimes but it’s a no brainer for me. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Bamford Rose everytime.
No affiliation to BR at all, I just know I get 100% great service and expert advice everytime.
They know alot more than the dealerships and all the work that's carried out on your car is with all the care and attention as if the car is their own.
Apart from carrying out the service work they do also offer a unique performance upgrade service thats both engineered and fitted perfectly for each owner and their requirements.

It's all about trusting the person who works on your car to know what they are doing.
I had an AM main dealer spend a week (not) fixing the notorious "Emissions Service Required" error message. No doubt a nice bill went off to whoever provides Timeless, but their diagnosis of a loose wire wasn't a cure.
I've had another AM main dealer bring my car back to me after a service with oil streaming up the bonnet from the vents, up the nearside half of the windscreen and onto the roof. The wipers had been used to clear it - on a dry day - so the driver knew something was up. The something was that the oil cap was still sitting on top of the engine manifold, and hadn't been put back on.
You pays yer money and you takes yer choice.

I suspect I don't need to give my answer but I will anyway. Bamford Rose. The specific question posed is more about the thoroughness of the inspection at the time of service than the work done and BR do the most comprehensive inspection at every service so win this one for me.
There are countless times that a problem has evaded the attempts of main dealers to fix it only to be resolved by BR. Their knowledge is second to none.
As already mentioned, the option of having your Aston modified/upgraded to exactly how you want it is very appealing to me as I've modified many of the cars I've owned, from Minis up to Astons. Not everyone's thing but definitely works for me so it's an added bonus.
I was willing to try BR, but a call and email to them about getting my V12V serviced never got returned. So they self-selected themselves with poor/non-existent service. Works contacted me (my car is supplied from new by them) and they booked the car for a service faultlessly. Car collected in their transport, serviced with a report asking for digital signature for items that needed addressing, and car was returned promptly. Couldn’t have asked for better service than what Works provide. And the car retains full AMWSH. Result for me and probably good for the next owner if/when it comes time to sell.
Works every time for me, but that's easy as they're 5 miles away from me, so why would I go anywhere else.
Always had good service from sales, service and paint, and agreed SV is always helpful, even when I just email him with questions.
Nothing against indies at all, I've just not needed to use them for years, although I did use Chiltern for some accident repair years ago, who were very good.
I am biased towards Works, and I must admit if it came down to any of the other MD's vs Indies, then I doubt my answer would be so clear cut.

Interesting. I've never used Works, but the one MD I have used has been underwhelming, with multiple return trips to resolve the same issue. I wouldn't hesitate to favour BR, but my experiences are perhaps a bit polluted. Maybe I should try Works next time (even if I do live on the other side of the country).Always had good service from sales, service and paint, and agreed SV is always helpful, even when I just email him with questions.
