Early Vantage Audio options for streaming, bluetooth USB etc

Hoping someone else on here has some experience of this solution for early Vantage audio streaming solution

It looks like there's a relatively cheap (£140) unit which plugs directly into the rear of the early Vantage units and allows quite a decent set of functionality. Installation doesn't look too hideous so I might have a go at this myself soon.
Has anyone else had experience of this? if so, how did it work out?

It's really easy to install and far better than the Dension units (had one of those in before the mr12volt unit - but more clunky and problematic).
Check out this thread for a good discussion around it, it starts off about the DB9, but its the same for the Vantage, I put one in my MY07.

If you want to go further, you could even do the Apple Car Play install, I did that about a year ago and it makes the sat nav far more useful

I installed it recently using the link in Mad Gadget’s post. It’s a superb piece of kit for the money!
Very good sound quality, and seems to work well. You’ll need a mini fuse break-out (note mini- I ordered a big one first by accident). I also found that the L-shaped mini fuse breakouts don’t work well with the vantage fuse box!
You could of course just use the wire tapping kit that is supplied. I bough a crimping tool off Amazon for £10 with some crimps which helps things.
The hardest bit is getting the ski slope off- which is actually reasonably easy despite the scare stories. Just be really careful and take it slowly. There are many guides to doing it including a Redpants one.

Thanks for the info. I have now installed this on my 06 Vantage with a switched power supply and it's working OK.Couple of issues though;
1. Sometimes the head unit doesn't recognise the fact that it has an input, and so it just asks for a disc to be inserted instead. If i reset the MR12VOLT device, it then recognises the phone is streaming and commences correctly.
2. If I leave a USB stick in, it does play the audio from that, but I don't know how to switch from USB to mobile streaming.
3. I was expecting (from watching other reviews) for the head unit to display the name/details of the tracks, but instead it just says "Track 01"
What's your experience here?

I use an FM to Bluetooth transmitter for under $20

Charge that up, pair it with Bluetooth to your phone. Plug it into the aux in socket. Stream music to the device and it sends the signal into the stereo.

Been using this for a couple of months now, and very happy with it. Works well for music and phone calls. Has never frozen on me like other users have reported. I don’t use usb or aux in, only Bluetooth; and I have it connected to a permanent live fuse. I have it mounted above the fusebox behind the passenger side carpet, and have it stuck down with Velcro in case I need to remove it quickly.
