VH Vantage Glovebox Lid Rattle

Asking a question I should probably know the answer to, but don't. Does anyone know if the latch of the Vantage glovebox lid is adjustable? I'm looking to try to make my lid close a little more firmly and closer to the main dashboard, so I'm looking for an "in and out" adjustment, not left-right or up-down.
Background. My V8V is pretty much rattle-free, especially since I ditched the original, rock-hard Bridgestones. However, over certain surfaces and speeds I've occasionally heard a small chatter that seems to stop if I reach across and push on the glovebox lid. I had a quick look and the latch staple seems to be fixed to the lid and is non-adjustable but, without taking the glovebox apart, I can't see if I can take up a bit of the slack by adjusting the latch itself.
The lid assembly still has the two small rubber buffers and I can tell that they are contacting the leather around the aperture as they are leaving witness marks. However I can still push lightly on the lid and get some movement and then generate a light "tap" when I release, which would probably be enough for a rattle over rough roads.
As a temporary fix I've modified an old cistern float valve washer by cutting an oblong hole in it so that it slides over the staple and provides a little extra pre-load to the latch pawl - I'll be able to assess this to see if the latch is the problem and if this is a fix over the next few weeks, but I'd rather not have a cistern washer as a permanent fix if I can adjust it out.
