2020 DB11 AMR depreciates £90,000 - can it be true ?
Discussion
Dealers are normally very reluctant to talk about car prices falling, but there is media comment about a reduction in the values of luxury cars.

One dealer reported buying a 2020 Aston Martin DB11 AMR for £100,000.
The owner had paid £190,000 and drove just 3,000 miles.
Would £30 per mile, be enough to travel by chauffer driven limousine?
Most used DB11 AMR’s are retailing around £120k, and that price hasn’t moved since last summer. The RRP of most of them will be >£190k, but i would be surprised if there weren’t plenty of discounts on new ones.
Changing a car so quickly after buying it is usually expensive, especially if dealers are making £20k each time, but even so this was really expensive if they paid full RRP and got a low offer to exit.
So glad we bought used...

The average price of a 2020 DB11 AMR with very low miles seems to be somewhere between £123k and £130k currently. That's still a lot of car for the money. What's really shaken things up was the market wide residual value correction last year, which coincided with car dealers re-opening. Residuals typically lowered a chunk, which caught customers out, as you could be sorting out funding before the end of March 2020 on a car, which following dealers re-opening, suddenly had the net effect of becoming more expensive to finance even if the cash price had dropped. It might be another year before things settle down.
I think March 2021 sales of s/h Astons will tell a different story. I was looking in earnest last month and the number of Timeless DB11's dropped rapidly from around 85 to 60. My local dealer HWM sold all theirs in a week !
I can see why 2020 would have been a poor time to be a seller, but I think things have changed somewhat now.

I have had emails from both Aston dealers I have had dealings with about buying my car. They are on the hunt for stock it would seem.
I've had those as well. Further down the ones I received also point out that they've got some good deals on new cars. I think they're hunting for customers rather than stockGassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
