Pistonheads or Facebook for Aston Martin

There seem to be quite a large number of members on the V8V and V12V Facebook group, probably including some ex-PHers.
I have noticed they have some handy extra features, eg. listing posts from one member.
However, overall it seems very fiddly to use, or is that just me?
The Pistonheads forum layout is very logical, by showing every contribution in chronological order, not limiting the number of words seen, and not hiding numerous replies, which then have to be clicked to make visible.
Any thoughts?
I joined the facebook group the other week, when I was feeling a little miffed at the quality of posting on here, but I have to agree the format of facebook is terrible for this kind of thing. Posts are transient and the quality of members posts on there is absolutely dire. That said there is the odd ray of light, like when Tim C posts throwing in a few stats here and there, but otherwise it left me fairly clear that this is still the better place to be.
Mrs Minglar has been a Facebook user for many years, and she often tags me, even though I’ve only had my own account for just over two years. The only reason I set it up was because of the Aston Martin groups on there, and then a few friends found me. There was a lot of talk on here about people moving away from PH and using Facebook as their preferred medium, and to a degree it has happened, but fwiw I still think the real die hards, and the fonts of knowledge are on here. Facebook does have its advantages though, and the reach is definitely greater if that’s what you’re looking for. It’s been mentioned on here before, but PH should introduce a “like” button, as sometimes that’s all you need to say.

So it is not just me.
It is true then, that the way it works is not easy for our type of detailed, chronological and sometimes lengthy discussions.

Hardcore Aston (and not only Vantage) fans simply cannot afford to miss out on the V8/V12 Vantage Owners Group because just so many current and ex-AML/main dealer/independents´/whatever staff are present there with their invaluable (technical) knowledge and advice. You do not recognise them instantly in some cases, but if you keep up reading patiently, you will soon discover that many experts are there.
Irrespective of that Pistonheads will remain to be my personal main forum.
I´m intrigued that this thread has not been deleted/closed/moved yet by the powers that be.

My original question was about comparing the ease of use.
The answers seem to favour PH, for the use which we want.
The other aspect commented upon, about an evident contrast in members (I must change the looks of my car), I had not realised during my brief visit.
Yes, the Forums -> My replies is helpful for recent posts, but I tend to use Google to search PH.
If the search entry is a reasonable text match, quite a lot can be found.
I even unearthed posts from PHers in 2003, talking about trying to place orders in advance for the Vantage concept just unveiled.
On or two of those posters are still on PH now.

You've seen my opinion above about Farcebook, but when it comes to format and ease of use I find PH better than Sixspeedonline and (whisper it softly) the AMOC forum. The answers seem to favour PH, for the use which we want.
The AMOC forum has a "like" button (I think they call them "Pilchards" - don't ask, I have no idea without research). Oh Whoopie Doo.

Complimentary really, that Aston Martin PHers are regarded as fairly polite.
There used to be a headmaster here, who would readily criticise the use of split infinitives, or misplaced apostrophes.
That kept us on our toes.
Good to see people apologising too, although it is usually me getting things wrong again.

Oh good, no need for me to bother then. I've yet to find a reason to have to get onto FB, so glad to hear the Aston groups aren't worth it. Being an anti-social old git, there doesn't seem much point being on FB, now as managed without it the last 30 (?) years. I use other forums with like buttons and don't use them most of the time, unless there's a potential prize hanging off it. Avoids the whole angst about liking the wrong things or not liking the right things, people getting upset you like someone else's post but not theirs etc etc. .. Turns out I wasn’t
Oh, and I found the Z4 Forum much easier to use than PH, really liked it.(it was better for z4m stuff than PH)
Can anyone tell me how you just pick up where you left off on a thread, the next day? I sometimes get put at the "last visited" message, but rarely. Maybe as I seem to have to re-login every time...

FB is for people who need validation from strangers on the internet.
The various aston FB pages are usually filled with the same people posting pictures of the same cars, looking for attention and likes. It feels as though some people buy these cars just for attention and to post pictures for likes, bizarre. God forbid they just use the cars and dont continually seek attention.
To completely contradict myself I set up a DB9 group which now has over 500 members. Although I set it up because ph is not very db9 kind or friendly, most of the chat here is about vantages and vanquishes.
Forums are better for threads and info, fb is better for flaunting.
