Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S- Help needed

Hi silly question but want to change the horrible bridgestones to Michelin pilot sport 4S’s

However, don’t really understand tyre rateimgs

I currently have 234 40 ZR19 92Y on the front (RE50A) and 275 35 ZR19 96Y on the rear both AM9 rated

When I look to buy Michelin 4S I am quoted 235/40 R19 Y (96) front and 275/35 R19 Y (96) rears but can also see other Y ratings ie 100

What should I buy/order?

Apologies if asking a stupid question that has been answered many times before, but I really don’t understand the ratings, so any help appreciated

The Y is the speed rating, the 96 the load rating. You can go up on the speed rating but not always down - it needs to be above the max speed of the vehicle.

Thanks for your help So either tyre is ok as long as it is equal or higher than the 92Y or 96Y? Any benefits of getting 100 over 96?

The fronts must be 235 are they not? The 96 ones would be good. its the weight on each tyre so if yours is 92 now 96 will be more than enough.

Out of interest, are you having any difficulties getting these tyres at your garage? I am looking currently, and there seems to be nowhere that sells both front and rear (size/rating of your tyres are the same as mine). Online search at least. I'm going to call some local places next week and see if they can order in.

The higher load rating will be a slightly stiffer tyre sidewall. Benefits could include sharper control and steering. Compromises could include less soft rubber to absorb bumps.

Hi managed to get them without issue from black circles being fitted Friday. Fronts ratings 96 and rear 100, there is even a discount code so just under £760 for all 4 fitted

Thank you, really helpful. Ordered 96 fronts and 100 rears, they have got to be better than the Bridgestones, which seem to have no traction and wear quickly. Fingers crossed the Michelin’s are as good as everybody says they are. Thanks again for the help

Just had exactly the same fitted , paid £748 for all four plus get £100 back from Michelin . Deal ends the end of this month with the company I bought them from

And they are way better then the Horrorbridgestone's. I did now around 5000 Miles with them. Fully satisfied
