Having heard loads about the NC500 becoming incredibly busy with excess traffic and camper vans it has remained on my list of things to do, but keeps slipping down due to the popularity.
I was in Dumfriesshire last week, and was in the Mull of Galloway (unfortunately not in the Aston), but was thinking how beautiful it was across my three day trip and got speaking to someone who was doing the SW300 (which I had not heard of) and had said it was great as the roads were not as busy as the NC500 - but accommodation was a bit more varied.
Anyone else done or thought of doing said route/tour ?

I’ve biked around those parts and yes, they are not as busy as the nc500, and much easier to get to from blighty. Anything through or around the Galloway Forest is lovely, plus south around the peninsulas. Stay clear of Stranraer and the main trunk roads from there where possible as they are usually heavy with HGVs going to or from the ferry. Probably 2 days in the area would be sufficient to get good miles and smiles in imo.
And when you’re done nip over to Moffatt, then east across the borders, Kelso etc, down to Berwick, some of the best roads in the UK.
