Last couple of weeks I've upgraded my centre rear subwoofer, from a standard 40W (rms) bass speaker to a 250W (rms) unit.

I've installed in a Vibe Powerbox 400.1M amp next to the Linn main amp in the boot to power the sub and a 8" Pioneer 250w (rms) sub TS-A2000LD2.

The vibe amp is connected to the Linn main amp to get the audio signals and has a bass volume control so apart from the head unit the bass can be controlled, from the vibe amp the pioneer sub is connected in a 1 ohm configuration as the sub has 2x2 coil connections, this setup actually delivers a maximum of 400W (rms) but as the sub only handles 250W I've reduced the output from the amp.

So now it sounds great, the bass is greatly improved and better sound quality, it really improves the basic setup.

Looks good,

Wonder if you could add just that to the 128w system.

On the early DB9 cars you will have 3 types of systems -

Basic 128W system, a 260W system and a premium 950W system.

I see no reason you can't install that subwoofer speaker in the car as a direct replacement but as the amp is the same it would sound probably the same.

On my car the main Linn amp has a fault on the centre rear bass speaker as it wouldn't work so I installed a small but powerful amp and decided to install a better speaker.

Thanks PaulRog,

Yep it would mean new amps and speaker(s).

Nothing wrong with mine. Just curious to know if you can get a little better for a small change.
