Bovee1000 user question

Hi there - I recently brought a 2011 V12V, I excitedly managed to carve a couple of days out for a bit of a road trip, literally my first drive since buying due to lockdown.

I followed advice I’d seen online and brought a bovee1000 and the JLR cable. My hope/expectation was to link to my iPhone and steam podcasts/Spotify from my iPhone XR (using Bluetooth) via the Bovee.

This didn’t work at all. The Bluetooth connection was fine and the aux/iPod option on the stereo inputs could recognise a device. But if I attempted to play /steam anything it just failed. I m not near the car at the minute to look but there was a message along the lines of the steam not being recognised /possible.

I gave up quickly. But can I ask is actual steaming via a bovee of Spotify or podcast aps possible? Or is it only possible to play downloaded songs using phone as an iPod? I don’t have any songs stored as just stream music now so couldn’t test this?

Trying to decide if my expectation was too high or I’ve misunderstood the functionality. I was hopeful it would be a “cheap” fix to stream music.

I had no problems with my bovee it was great maybe check you have entered your code correctly. also that you have it plugged into the correct inlet. Mine being a db9 was in the front of the arm rest box before the cup holder. Alos maybe try pairing before starting the car.

When using an iPhone or other Apple device you must have a minimum of one track purchased from iTunes. Otherwise it won’t allow streaming from Spotify etc. Could be worth checking. HTH.

It sounds like you might be connected to the car not the Bovee - if nothing else it’s an easy check. On my MY2010 I connect to both simultaneously so can use the phone hands free functionality from steering wheel etc and stream Spotify to Bovee. Also sounds daft but you need to select iPod as the source. First time I connected I had to have a stored track playing but since then provided there is a stored track Spotify is fine. Stored meaning downloaded from iTunes / Apple Music not a Spotify download. I’m sure you have checked these points but always worth a double check of the basics!

Wow ok - thanks for that info. I didn’t / haven’t and would never of known that was needed. Will follow that advice. Thanks very much.

I back up this info from Minglar, it's either one track downloaded or an Active Apple Music sub (not sure about Spotify since I don't use it). I assume you might have come across my thread since I have bought the same JLR cable:
