Corrosion/Paint issues
Discussion
Surprised and disappointed to see this yesterday as the car isn't even 2 years old. I'm its all covered under warranty but what causes such a thing?! Is it a corrosion issue or simply paint bubbling?!

Lots of reasons that paint systems fail, but this type of corrosion occurs when the initial primer fails to bond. Microscopic cracks allow oxygen/moisture in and it all starts to bubble up.
The automotive paint world made major strides in the 1990s, and then in order to reduce VOCs, new manufacturers were required to go to water based systems (repair/aftermarket in many markets can still use traditional systems).
The water based systems remain challenged, lots of effort by the vendors and their automaker partners not withstanding. I had Honda repaint under warranty a 6 year old minivan. The adjuster was not happy, but then neither was my SO.
I have never bothered to check, but when did AM switch over, and what paint vendor do they use? I'm particular to the 2K system from PPG, but will use Dupont as well.

It was recently announced that this paint facility at the St Athan plant, will be used for all Aston Martin cars.
Every sports cars body will therefore go on a round trip of about 280 miles, to have paint applied.
