Something not right here......... Cover disappeared some time ago, now got round to ordering new cover and it arrived a short while ago... However, the assembly under the headlamp that extends out to wash isn't secured to anything... that can't be right? there's two holes on the base which look like how it would haven bolted down (See first pic below)

Also, the new cover has a spring with it, but I have no idea where the spring is supposed to go... although I guess someone could have included it for a bit of comedy.....

Here's some pics...

I've searched but can't find any specific info or pictures/diagrams that shed some light on it...

Any help would be muchly appreciated...

Same thing happened on my Vantage last year. There are 2 screws that hold the washer arm to the underside of the headlight.

I thought it would be an easy job, remove wheel/liner and bolt the washer arm back on. When my car went in for MOT they had a look at it for me and found the underside of headlight where the screws fit had snapped off.

In order to pass the MOT I ended up buying and fitting a new headlight just to fix the washer (which comes with new headlight)

I hope in your case its just a case of the 2 screws coming loose....

That cover you have bought is for a halogen headlamp , with out headlamp wash. , looks like the washer jet assembly fixings have snapped off the lamp unit. X

The washer cover fits both, it just snaps onto the washer arm on HID version, you dont use the spring.

Ive replaced 3 now on my old halogen car and later HID light car....not a waste, its always useful to have one in stock smile

As Bogie says, the fixings have snapped.
If you're lucky you'll find the bits in the wheel arch. You can reglue and then strengthen with some fibre glass.

Yep. Another of those small little things that I assumed would be peanuts to fix and cost me £500!

See BigMig’s recent post on fixing headlight mounting points. The washer mounts can be repaired the same way.

Yes I saw that after I paid for a headlight in my car ... I did manage to get a few hundred quid used for my old headlight, no doubt someone repaired it. Must be a good aftermarket for failed Vantage lights ...

Guys, is it the headlamp securing thingys that fail rather than the actual lights?

Some people have light failure, the LED driving lights seem common. The headlight washer is a separate issue, can be fixed sometimes, as can the lights. All depends on your approach.

If you car is in for an MOT and fails on either lights or washer and its a daily driver, likely you just want it fixed ASAP with new parts ....a weekend car you can take your time, send away parts to be fixed or fix yourself sometimes.

What happened on mine was the plastic brackets broke off where the washer arm screws on. I guess given time, and sending headlight away someone could have made up new mounts and plastic weld or fasten on another way.

Mr Sarney, did you do the fix? I have the same issue on my son's car. Any tips appreciated.

Hi reformed, haven’t fixed it yet (for a number of reasons) however MOT tester told me it wasn’t a fail (no headlamp washers)…. Car has been off the road since August 22, but it’s still on the to do list for Spring 24….

I have sourced more info and will be doing it hopefully sooner. Will post up photos and the outcome. Which hopefully will be favourable
