The new configurator has been up for a couple of week, just nobody noticed until they got the email today from AML.
Shame about the AMR brand being dropped. Was pretty short lived overall really.
I wonder how time will judge the AMR specials then? Extra desirable or just a mistake in dragging the brand off in the wrong direction?

Thank you Adam. I was not brave enough to be as direct, but I have edited my post above, which might illustrate your point.
Quite understandable though, that many do not know much about Aston Martins. I don't know much about the Porsche 911 models.

I think the concept was good, but only the AMR accessories and the AMR Rapide actually hit the mark IMHO. The other AMR cars were nowhere near sufficiently beefed up over the std car. Yes they should have been GT3 versions, significantly more track / sporty focussed, but instead the majority were little more than an "S" version really.Poor implementation, but Im not sure that was reason to kill it off. When the DB11 AMR was released, there were cries of "this is what the DB11 should have been". As a way of tidying up the model line-up, enough time has passed that dropping the name and the car being a 'regular' DB11 would make sense, to me at least. That particular model was what I'd term a 'skunkworks' car; it had all the goodies underneath, but it didn't scream AMR because few were specced in outlandish ways and aside from the wheels and headrest stitching, it's visually quite similar to the Launch Edition.
The dropping of the Superleggera naming for the DBS; in the interest of fair reporting, I was asked back in November whether it carried much value as there was consideration given to removing it (I didn't work for AML but did provide some feedback here and there). My waffle back to the factory was that most non Aston folk only knew Superleggera from the Gallardo, and everyone else thought it was hilarious to name a car 'Superlight' when it still weighed 1800kg or so. Of course the origin of the name does have some tenuous links, and you could argue that the use of carbon fibre was a modern day construction method. In any case, it's just a DBS now.
The DBX tinkering makes sense; of all the cars, it's the one that has to be seen as 'keeping up with the Joneses'. It has to offer all the trinkets you can get elsewhere, even if nobody's asking for them . While there's a lot of comments about never seeing a DBX in the UK, and surely that means they aren't selling well - it's a bit more nuanced. My understanding was that there's a 4 month lead time on UK orders, which is pretty good.
Cars like the F1 Edition, are being built at a rate of 1 per week. Some will say that's too slow; I think it's more a case of each one is being given the attention it deserves on the assembly line so that what's delivered is at a level that management are striving for. Some more mental versions of the Vantage might appear in the near future, but the bulk of the heavy lifting will be done by DBX derivatives.
Interestingly, the DB11 and DBS might get one last spruce up in their current guise before becoming hybrids. That means a new interior and some minor exterior tweaks. Whether that's enough to make them worthy of the PH collective, only time will tell.

The irony is if you saw one (dbx) every day then they would have poor residuals potentially - the fact that they have sold in excess of 260 in the uk (as of howmanyleft) is not bad actually.
The uk has to be the hardest market as it is dominated by low finance costs on range rovers - which i dont think are as dominant in other markets.
I keep speccing one up in kermit and orange and quite like them, but cant find an interior combo that suits.

Funny you suggest that, few years ago i was very close to buying an aeromax which was metallic black with a beautiful mauve/ purple leather, but someone bought it whilst i was on my way to see it 
If i could get that same colour leather it would be a good combo - but apparently the supplier (something or other of weir) stopped selling it as it had a problem in that colour)

Ha ha - thanks - i tried that yesterday - but it looks too monotone for my liking (looks like black !) both my zag and my unmentionable aston have spicy red leather touches, whereas my db9 has black with a silver stitch, and as much as i like the 9, i wish it was a bit brighter inside.I even tried with the config using the lime essence like interior with black duotone, but that was too much even for me lol

Not sure if they still do black damson, makes a nice change from black (doesn’t photograph brilliantly though)
