Bleeding V8V cooling system

2010 V8 4.7 Vantage
I decided today to drain and replace my coolant and replace the thermostat due to the cars age.
( the running temperatures were perfect before, but as the thermostats are known to fail I thought it would be good preventative maintenance )

However after draining down the radiator, replacing the thermostat and refilling the system.I let the engine idle for around 25 mins.
It came up to temperature ( halfway on the gauge ) and even the fans came on
But the water hose that comes out the thermostat is stone cold, ( right hand side, facing the engine ) yet the cabin heater is also luke warm
Have I fitted a faulty thermostat or do you think I damaged it installing it
Is there bleed valves anywhere ?

I’m wary about taking the car for a spin whilst it’s in this state.

Are you sure its a circulation hose and not a line to header tank, which would stay cold. If not - maybe a faulty/stuck thermostat or possibly you may have put it in the wrong way round?

Thanks, it’s about three inch diameter going to the radiator so I’m sure it’s the main hose.

However after running the car up to temperature, whilst squeezing the hose, then leave to cool overnight, then repeat the next day - - the level then dropped significantly in the header tank

I’ve since taken the car out for the day and all seems good
