Graziano final drive
Discussion
Don’t know if anyone’s interested in mechanical bits, but this is the rather fabulous Graziano final drive from a 2014MY Rapide, with a 13T pinion and 45T crownwheel (ratio = 3.4615). This is mated to the 1068 020 097 Touchtronic II (ZF 6HP26X) transmission which was the last of the three versions produced for the Rapide before the 8-speed arrived in late 2014. The bigger ratio spread of Touchtronic III (ZF 8HP70X) allowed for a much taller final drive ratio to be employed (2.73)

Looking at the Amboid gears, the tooth height tapers so I assume these are Gleason-cut teeth, as opposed to Oerlikon or Klingelnberg, despite the fact that Graziano were merged into the Oerlikon Drive Systems group back in 2007. Dana acquired Oerlikon Drive Systems/Graziano in 2019

You can see in the photos how a recess is sculpted out of the crownwheel carrier

to provide clearance for the extension shaft which passes through the unit to engage with the spline in the pinion

The extension shaft, at its other end, is splined to the transmission output shaft

Touchtronic II DBS, Virage & Vanquish also used the 3.4615 final drive, though earlier Touchtronic II DB9s used a longer-legged version of this unit (13T pinion and 41T crownwheel = 3.1538 ratio), but then switched to the 3.4615 when the DB9 driveline became Virage-based for 2013MY
