Hood insulation- DBS

Note: hood = bonnet (forgot being from the US!)
My hood insulation on my 2010 DBS is starting to look very tired. It's coming apart to a certain degree and also sags a little in certain areas where there are fewer push pins to keep it in place which causes it to lay on the center cross brace and the ends of the intake manifolds making some small marks.
I had already taken it off a few years ago to re-paint it with high temp black engine paint which kept it looking decent, but now it's just falling apart. I'm in the US but the AM dealer would like $1200 USD for new insulation (have found online for about half that price from astonmartinbits and scuderiacarparts, not sure how much shipping will be though for a large item)
Has anyone removed the insulation on their DBS? I just removed it in the garage but can easily re-install if best to keep it on until new insulation arrives.
I just don't want any issues with the paint. I had two M3's in the past both of which I had removed the insulation with no issue for many years, however it was easy to find the answer as to whether it was safe to remove on such a mass produced car comparatively. I haven't been as lucky finding anyone with experience on the DBS and removing the insulation.
The only interesting thing is that AM seemed to have covered up the factory hood label (just part number, not a VIN label) with a piece of tape when the car was painted. The tape was painted over and has now curled up when I removed the insulation to expose a rather ugly orange hood label. It seems this was common practice as there are 2 hoods on ebay for sale with the exact same thing. Guess I'll have to deal with having the orange label showing if I keep it off.

Silly me. I read your post Liilpa and was picturing your DBS Volante.
I eventually realised it is the insulation above the engine which is drooping and not the roof fabric.
A hood and bonnet mix up.
Hope you can sort the problem. I expect the actual material is used by many car manufacturers.

...and there's me thinking a hood is a con man!
Perhaps there is a manufacturer who can re create the bonnet insulation. I would do a bit of googling. The insulation in my Vanquish is a pretty thin cloth covered cardboard. I am sure you could find a better solution os maybe check on astonbits or scuderia spares as both these sites have better priced items.
