Automatic lights

I have a 2016 DB9 GT. When I set the lights to Auto it takes ages for them to switch on when entering shaded roads from sunny stretches. Similarly, when leaving shaded roads it takes ages for the lights to switch off. I also have an Audi A5 Quattro and the lights switch on / off very quickly. Do I have a problem with the light sensor on the DB9 GT or is it just older technology?

Sounds like an advantage to me.
I find it irritating on my other cars where lights are to quick to change

Im not sure they should even come on in just shaded conditions on an otherwise sunny day. They are triggered by the amount of darkness, i.e. at least dusk.

Mine are the same on my V8V, so I suspect that is just the way they’re set-up/designed. I also find it a little frustrating because the ones on my Discovery are much more responsive.

However, if anyone thinks that it is a fault or knows a way to adjust things then that would be appreciated.

The lights on my V8V are also slow to respond - I think it's the way they're calibrated. I don't think they're set up to switch on as you enter short tunnels then off as you exit. The lamp technology is quite old too, so I'm not sure how they'd react to being switched on and off at virtually every patch of shadow, like you can with the modern LED systems.

They don't react like the LEDs with auto on plus active and auto high beam in my new Volvo V60, but for normal driving into or out of dusk or low light I think they're fine. And there's always a switch for when they're not
