Aston Martin V12 Vantage S Exhaust Upgrades

Hi - i'm new to Pistonheads.

Looking for some advice - I am lucky enough to have a V12 Vantage S manual, I am looking to have upgrades to exhaust note to have it sound more like a GT12 but without the AM Works titanium exhaust cost - which i think is close to £20k. Would love to hear from those that have made changes to standard manifold / exhaust set up and potential firms / products that can help.

I appreciate it's not exactly what you asked, but Bamford Rose do a few options for exhaust upgrades on the V12S.

thanks - mindful of keeping to the rules of the forums...it was booked in April to go in for the work at BR mid June, postponed and has been unresponsive to calls and emails so needing to look at other options

The AM Factory (note not "works") Titanium exhaust is nowhere near £20k. Even with the full AM Powerkit option which also includes the Titanium Exhaust it's less than that, considerably less if you haggle.

I suspect for the AM Titanium exhaust alone you could probably get one closer to a third of that price if you ask the factory (via your AM dealer) nicely.

The two go to firms if you’re not going down an AM-approved road are Bamford Rose and David Appleby Engineering.

For pure noise I’d imagine you’re looking at either high flow 200 cell secondary cats or deleting the secondary cats.

Other options that will give a bit more power are deleting the primary cats plus high flow secondaries, or replacing the entire exhaust manifold with a bespoke piece with equal length tubing, plus no primary cat and high flow secondaries.

There’s a dealer fit decat option too if you don’t want to go the whole hog. suspect much cheaper but a bit louder than standard.

For even more noise, DAE fitted Velocity AP primary decat pipes and reinstated some 200 cell secondaries.

Sounds more like the cut n weld job. Ive never heard of primary bypass pipes as such, and clearly there is no such place to jist swap out a section, other then by welding or replacing the whole manifolds.

Be careful with equal length tubes - will loose the Aston sound which is somewhat down to the unequal length pipes, and make it sound more like a ferrari V12.

Secondary decat costs about £650 from an Aston dealer.

Plenty more noise for a modest cost. I run mine like that with fuse 15 removed.

Big thanks to all that have contributed here...Some brilliant points made for me to mull over. Particularly liked the links to the evolution of Kermit and options fitted to him. It reminded me of what got me hooked on the V12Vs in the first place - a passenger run with works driver up the hill at Goodwood FOS about 4 years ago in a V12VS with AMR powerpack / titanium exhaust etc fitted. I just re-watched the video and the noise was epic (i'd post it here but there is too much shouting and excited whooping from me that embarrassingly spoil it somewhat !)

Will be making calls to my Aston dealer next week along side David Appleby Engineering to look into costs and discuss further. Its likely to take a bit of time but will be sure to post when i decide on what approach to take - definitely hear the benefit of staying with official Aston tech though.
