An interesting thought popped into my head following a question in the thread about the upcoming new Vantage RS, got me to thinking about compiling a quick summary of market prices right now on the various VH1 V12 Vantage versions.

I have selected the most expensive vehicle listed today for each type, mainly because market prices seem to be heading upwards for everything right now. There's no right or wrong approach here really, the thread is more about a snapshot comparison of the relative value of the versions as much as anything else.

All prices used are UK advertised cars market only - and to save my own time and sanity I have just looked in 3 places : AM Official Used, PH classified and Autotrader. I have not included cars where the price is POA either, as I have no inclination to email each dealer to ask.

V12 Vantage (6spd man) - £92,000
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202108266...

V12 Vantage Zagato (6spd man) - £530,000
https://preowned.astonmartin.com/preowned-cars/187...

GT12 (SS) - £349,850
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202106284...

V12 Vantage S (SS) - £124,950
https://preowned.astonmartin.com/preowned-cars/216...

V12 Vantage S Red Bull or Spitfire Editions (this one is SS) - £139,850
https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/11013044

V12 Vantage S (7spd man) - £200,000
https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/11969415

V12 Vantage AMR (SS) - None listed

V12 Vantage AMR (7spd man) - None listed

V600 (7spd man) - £990,000
https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/12040453

Even more interesting when you factor in the original price for each of these. Some have appreciated, others still down, and not always directly related to production numbers of each.

Interesting to see where the market goes from here...

Its about time these car's value increased but compared to others ,say Porsche they are still low. It's taken a crazy market for it to happen though.

We were saying the same thing yesterday over lunch, MisterBlu and I.

Porsche values, taking into consideration production numbers and rarity, are crazy compared to something like a V12 Vantage. Even public perception is not helping Porsche. Pretty much anywhere, in pretty much any 911 variant, you are pretty much just in a Porsche, rarely people will double glance.

An Aston is pretty much an event anywhere.

Then again, you might not be interested in this kind of experience, but the market normally favours cars that attracts attention.

Its interesting I went through all of those, expecting to fall in love with one of them…. Alas not one of them ticked all the boxes….the red bull came closest but not manual!

The 600 history would make it a no from me, and the Zagato seats leather look like they need attention - which surprised me but looking at the green one in HK (which i prefer the look of) on pistonheads classifieds suggests its a common look.

I wouldn't want tan leather….and as desired as bucket seats are - having had them in an RS4 i swore never again….

It made me realise that at this money spec is such a personal thing….

Ill throw in an amr pro - hope yr sitting down https://www.classicdriver.com/en/car/aston-martin/...

I wonder about the ownership experience of the track only cars.

If it is the original owner selling, then had it over four years, probably just one track day and maybe an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records, for the car driven the shortest distance during 4 years.

I know Aston Martin tick off one more sale, but what does the buyer get out of it?
The asking price is not at a premium to list either.

No Roadster in your list apart from the V600.
Aren’t there any offered for sale at the moment?

The inlet manifolds on the AMR Pro look interesting. Any more pictures anyone has seen?

I decided not to differentiate on Coupe or Roadster to keep it simple. Logically however you might have expected to see more Roadsters however as they are usually priced a little higher than equivalent Coupes. There were probably just less available as far less of relevant types were made/sold anyway.

There are some great vids on youtube if you have a look - one with Henry Catchpole is worth a watch. However as this is a V12V thread and the AMR Pro is a V8V version, I won't link here.

Interesting figures, as has been said the market place is strange?

Having said that Alexander’s prestige knocked £5k of their initial £100k yellow V12VS SSIII Coupe

I know it's all about personal opinions but I'm not a fan of the V600.

I'm sure the bean-counters at AM know what they are doing but to me this is all a bit confusing and reminds me of the endless special edition Vauxhall Calibras and Mazda MX5s in the 1990s.

Just an opinion.

With the exception of the Red Bull and Spitfire Eds, which I accept maybe shouldn't have been on the list, none of the rest are special editions. They are all distinct models in their own right, some with considerably more power and performance than others, as the car evolved over the many years of production. For instance the step difference between a V12V and the V12VS is more considerable than the difference between a 4.3 V8V and a 4.7 V8V, but I dont think anyone would call the 4.7 a special edition of the 4.3?

Maybe the Zagato comes close to that definition, but really calling any Aston Zagato version just a special edition is mis-understanding what it is that Zagato do.

biggrin I think its down to the fact the two V12VSM Coupes are private listings on PH (the one I've linked and the next most expensive just £10k less)....

Maybe I should have limited it to dealer sales, but then some dealers do like to test the market too, plus then you have SOR cars, so its a very blurry line.

In a normal world Roadster would pretty much always command a higher price than a like for like Coupe. That said both of the Coupes have some attractive attributes that this Roadster doesn't have, so not like for like, albeit I don't see that level of price differentiation in any of the attributes.
