Fault codes. Any clues

Hi, I have a few faults showing up on the car at the moment but they will not clear. The car seems to be running ok but it would be nice to know what is wrong.

Yes, you need to get to the actual DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) which should give you a good pointer as to what the issue is.

Once you've got those, I'd google the code and the model of your car - almost certainly someone will have had the same issue!

Hi Thank you for your help. For some reason I cannot get to the P codes as I think maybe the fault to do with the Slow speed CAN is a communication issue. I maybe wrong but the slow speed CAN is a module that acts as
Distribution centre for all the different modules. It would seem a communication link is broken down somewhere with maybe a loose connection or earth.
If anyone can has any knowledge in this area or
has any ideas, I would be greatfull or open to ideas.
I am a bloke who like to see either something broken or fallen off for me to understand.

That's a pain.

CAN is a network rather than a module, but yes if there is a wiring fault that won't help. I suspect that isn't the case though as if the CAN bus had failed there would be lots of issues.

It might be worth trying a different scan tool as you may find it is able to communicate when the other one won't. There's loads on Amazon from under £20 upwards so possibly worth a punt.

Bet you a pound to a pinch of….

Ran my Foxwell on my V8V this evening and had the same fault registered. Drilled down and it said words to the effect of “system check hadn’t completed since last cleared”

Try re-starting the car - importantly with the door closed and let the system check complete. Then clear the code and see if that works.

Sometimes you can start the car too quickly and it throws up the error if the system check hasn’t completed.

That sounds very familiar. I shall try again tomorrow. Astons seem to suffer from fault codes very much like the Jaguar XK150 ( modern version).
Half the time faults are more to do with sensors rather that the car it’s self. Thanks for the help.

I had exactly the same two fault statements. Both related to the system check not completing and the system check wouldn’t complete with the driver’s door open.
