What sort of ball park cost should i budget for new pads and disks, supply and fit, all 4 corners on an 09 plate v8v ?

From memory I used to pay about £1000 all in from Aston Martin bits, plus fitting from any half decent garage

Euro car parts stock the discs and the pads.

Brembo discs aren’t expensive at all from them.

Main dealer recently quoted me £1200 for a pair of pads. When it comes to discs next year, I will buy my own and ask the local garage to fit. What brand/model is best?

Brembo discs from Autodoc - £75 corner. Porterfield RS4 from Porterfield UK distributor, approx £220 per axle from memory. Cheaper pads are available but make sure you get the cut out for the wear sensor and are happy with them.

Any garage that’s half decent can fit them. Many of us fit them ourselves.

Important to note that whoever fits them needs to ensure that the disc locating screw is totally flush with the disc, or you’ll get wheel wobble.

i bought pads for about $40 per axle and the rotors can be had for less than $100 each. i spent several hours on the net searching to find the lowest prices. of course changing pads (i've done it on the front) and rotors is one of the easier DIY jobs and there a few youtube (and otherwise) videos that show how. my aston independent garage charges $200 an hour and wouldn't be surprised if it involved a couple hours of work. maybe three.

Thanks - Rick's a great bloke - although when I was buying discs for my V8 he did point me in the direction of Clarkson's V12 clip ... no going back after that . Indeed I sold my v8 discs and pads on to someone as they were no longer required .....

I totally agree but that's not a reason to be ripped off by a main dealer to the tune of £1200 when you can currently get the OEM front pads from Eurocarparts for £250.

Quite . But putting a Brembo disc bought from Autodoc in an Aston Martin box doesn’t make it twice as good- but it will be twice the price . So cheap doesn’t always mean lower quality …

I'm embarrassed to say that I just said yes in this instance. They needed doing and I was up to my eyeballs with other things, you know how it is. Frustrating though. They were probably getting their revenge on me bringing my own oil to the service! Next year I'll get pads and discs at my local garage; I'll get the parts fitted that have been recommended on here. Thanks for the advice

Just back from having the Vantage serviced at DAE. Quoted for pads and fitting, OEM.

Front Brake Pads including fitting £208.50 + Vat
Rear Brake Pads including fitting £187.50 + Vat
Hand Brake Pads including fitting £83.33 + Vat

Crikey this sounds like exceptional value. Wish there was an independent in Bucks who could do it for similar money. In fact I wish there was an AM independent in Bucks.
