Definitely the cccharger exhaust remote control. Apparently it should be connected in place of fuse 22 for cars up to MY2012 and fuse 15 thereafter. I say apparently because I tried fitting one of these to my 2011 car and noticed no discernible difference. I then discovered that one of the exhaust valve linkages is broken so I'm in a permanent semi-loud mode anyway.
I was going to investigate to see if my car was fuse 15 instead but until the exhaust is fixed I looked no further.

I have no idea if it’s doing anything on my n420.
I guess it would be in the mid range I’d be able to tell. I’ll do some testing. The remote seems to have battery. So hopefully that’s doing something
I’ve have zero idea what the usb is for

The USB maybe has a user manual on it ? try reading it?
The N420 still had exhaust valves in the rear box, I seem to remember by default the valves just open at a different rev point to non "S" variants. So by having the CC charger remote kit you just have option to manually open or close the valves.
I have the same kit on my 2012 4.7 Roadster, it works great, cant remember if its in fuse 15 or 22 though. Its a 2 minute job to switch over the fuse slots. If your exhaust valves are working then it should be noticeable when open or closed. However the car needs to be warmed up first, otherwise the valves are open anyway and louder on the cold start cycle.
Go for a drive, window open, at low revs with valves closed and controlled by the car you will notice an increase in noise as you hit 3 or 4k revs
If the CC charger remote is working (and your exhaust valves not stuck) then when you select loud button you should have same noise level (loud) from 2k revs throughout the range, no step change at 3 or 4K revs.

The N420 opens the valves at 3,100rpm in Sport mode. If you're fuses are in and the valves working you will hear a step change in noise at that point (windows open or closed I guess it would be in the mid range I’d be able to tell. I thought that was only on the auto?

I didn’t even know it had a sport mode ???
The car defaults to Sport mode on start up. You need to press the Comfort/Sport button on the dash to switch to Comfort mode (it will say Comfort on the speedo display) Coincidentally I did that for the first time today.....for all of 10 secs and immediately switched back to Sport

Edited to correct: just read your post again. Yes mine's an SS. I can't speak about the manual but is surprises me that it doesn't have a sport mode

To OP.
The N420 has a standard 420bhp V8, so mechanically your car will be the same as my 2009 V8V manual.
I don't have Sport mode, so that might only be on the Sportshift cars.
I fitted an exhaust valve remote and from the inside of the car could not hear any difference.
If your exhaust valves are working normally (the levers are visible under the rear of the car), then my own experience might explain why you cannot hear a difference.
The standard set up is; Open up to about 1500 rpm; then closed up to about 4000 rpm and open after that.
It might not be easy for you to check, but there was a change in I think sometime during 2010 or 2011, when primary cats were fitted in the exhaust manifolds. Before that, there was only a single pair of cats under the car. If you want a noticeable exhaust sound increase, but not too much, then you can either alter the cat internals (single cat models), or change the secondary cat (cars with primary cats).
There is a USB socket in the centre storage. With a USB memory stick plugged in there, you can then select USB using the Mode button and play your music.

I have an N420 too, by factory the exhaust is the sport one, different from the S model. At least, Scuderia Car Parts list them as two separate parts.
)Anyway, the N420 in Sport or Comfort, will always have the valves opening at 3100 RPM, versus 4000+ in the normal car and in the S.
As other have said this is a CC Charger remote on fuse 15, I have the same. The valves will stay open regardless of the RPM once you push the remote button. Depending on the kind of switch (check the site), the car will remember or forget this setting after every power cycle.

I would put back the fuse and test the system. When I bought my car, one of the valves was broken, I had to replace it.
For example, if you have the switch that remembers the last used position (in this case open) and you never tried closing the valves, they might be stuck, broken etc.
Bring the car back to stock, test it and then put back the remote for some more tests.

I have the CC Charger remote fitted to mine, make sure the batteries are fresh in the remote, mine both died recently, easy fix with a small screw driver.
Also check the exhaust flaps on yours haven't seized, this can happen ... again under the rear of your car just make sure by pressing them in that they are free and you should feel a resistance as they spring back. If they are moving freely all's good. If they are notchy then you need to consider what to do next lubricant may help but otherwise replacement.

True but as far as I am aware they only ever stick ik the open position which is how they are at rest when the car is parked up. So the result of a stuck valve is a permantly loud car, which is surely better than a permanently quiet one. Its the same as just pulling the fuse out of course.

Yep...default open....one of mine has jammed open in the last 12 months, at service time the dealer reported it and offered to fix for a trivial £300-400 (remove exhaust and send it away to be welded) I declined, as default louder is not a concern
