DIY leather restoration tips/products

Any tips or recommended products for this folks? There are a couple of patches on my DB9 driver's seat bolster that need some attention and also some colour loss on the driver's side of the centre arm rest, I suspect due to some over-vigorous cleaning.

All the leather is black, so I'm tempted to have a go myself - I figured if I do a bad job I can always then get it professionally restored so I won't have lost anything!

Try some Gliptone Leather Conditioner. Brought up a dull patch of leather like magic. Then apply the Cleaner.

Furniture Clinic stuff works very well. Various kits and guides on their site.

Bespoke leathering are good for dyes if it's a tricky colour to match.

Not on my Aston but I have used the products from FurnitureClinic a few times now on my BMW (Black leather) and Discovery (Beige leather) and found them to be very good.

If you go onto their website you can select the colour from the various car manufactures to get a 'perfect' colour match. And they supply the kit for cleaning, prep, colouring and sealing.

Like you said, nothing to lose it you mess it up.

Thanks everyone - I'm going to give Colourlock a go - will be sure to post some before/after pics (if I'm not too ashamed of my work!)

Mine has some exceptionally minor marks on the interior but I have crushing OCD.

I’ve got a leather specialist coming to me on Saturday to make it look as new.

I’ll let you know how I get on with that. But it isn’t ridiculously pricey either.

That's a massive thumbs-up from me for Colourlock - not cheap, as a few folks have said, but really easy to use and i'm delighted with the results

Ace work - it is really satisfying doing it yourself and getting those kind of results.

I definitely had to take a brave pill before sanding the seat! It feels so wrong to go at it with a sanding pad, even a super fine one

Absolutely - you'd make that disappear easily. I think you'd still need quite a few of their products as it would need: cleaning (although you may well have some leather cleaner in your garage already), Leather Cleaning Spirit (to de-grease/prep for colouring), light sanding, Leather Fresh (the dye), Leather Guard (to seal/protect once coloured)
