Original Vanquish - good value

Whilst recently being active on Auto Trader, and now clearing out the bookmarked possibles, I think this original 2005 Vanquish S at AM Notts looks like great value…

I recall seeing them quite a bit higher only a year or two ago. And this one seems a nice spec and low mileage.
I was never brave enough to go for this model, even though it is one of the all-time best designs. I thought it might be relatively more expensive to maintain, not handle as well as later VH models, plus be physically too big for the lanes around here.
But I can see these climb in price dramatically over the next 10 years and salute anybody who takes the plunge.

I think all of that is true but doesn’t change how appealing they are. Drive it and see if you like it. However, I would not buy a classic Vanquish unless someone who knows exactly what they’re looking at has taken the under-trays off and done a proper inspection. If it’s bad the bills can be eye watering. There’s no way I would buy it with just the Timeless check.
I have a 2002 model and love it.
Some people prefer the non S, as more supple ride and nothing in it performance wise in a straight line, despite longer gearing (maybe it suits the power delivery?)
AMS magazine tested a non S, an SDP model (standard engine with S suspension & brakes)and an S and the S was the slowest round the track in similar conditions, strangely enough.
The AMOC has a good NP Vanquish forum and V12Vanquish.com (who look after my car) even make many components that fail, for a fraction of the cost AM charge (and better quality!). They are even in the final throes of producing a new engine loom!!
We also have a guy who can deal with replacing & rebuilding the gearchange system, again, for a fraction of the cost AM would charge and the parts are uprated.
Bamford Rose carried out my pre purchase inspection, but V12Vanquish.com do similar.
Get a good one and they are lovely GTs

I had a 2002 Vanquish a fantastic car that had a good service history, which included the front subframe replaced due to rust whilst under warranty. One of those cars that you look back at once parked. Loved it.
We used it for weekend jollies and normally got preferential parking at weekend retreats. Always lots of positive comments from passerby’s and mostly women. They know a good thing when they see it. I can see them only appreciating in value.

Unfortunately missed that event. I did organise the original Vanquish meet up when we put a load on a rolling road.They are a bit " demanding " , need constant loving etc ....

Most powerful was an S that did a lot of motorway miles at 535bhp, v healthy. Another S produced 512, with a non S in particularly rude health at 509bhp!
Was on a Surrey Rolling Road's DynoDynamics.
Mine is currently with V12Vanquish.com having a service and MoT. Upgrading the rear subframe bracket from the steel AM to aluminium versions to prevent any galvanic corrosion.
Yes, they do need a fair bit of loving!!
